Why are LG trying to farm the uk off with this junk? It's not the LG G8 it's the crap lesser model but they seem to be trying to charge full price for the budget version?? What are they possibly thinking?

They have lost the game just like HTC, running after their profits ... it's not working out for them.

It's such a shame as a long term LG phone buyer (all phones from LG G2) I have finally given up on them. Just not sure what to move to next!
Remember when LG made amazing cheap smartphones like the Nexus 4 and 5? Pedigree Farm remembers.
I would say for your own sake ensure you have a proper 2 year warranty on LG products. As I have had to RMA every LG phone I've ever had for common manufacturing issues.
They've been fine thereafter.

DK the answer to that, but I wouldn't say £379 is full price for a phone with many luxury features, released in 2019

I don't think running after profits is untypical of any marketplace, in LG's case it seems clear that lack of software support for previous models put them out of sync with rest of the field, response to hardware issues wasn't as polished as Samsung's, etc

HTC made pricing and other strategic mistakes, including similar lack of support, in the end about half their staff was poached by Google, kind of a brain drain I'd say

This isn't the budget one they confusingly changed the new version to the S suffix

It's a proper 855 chip from the description.

The chip is the same but other things have changed. Looking forward to the oled screen. Nope that's gone. Well at least it will be 2k like the LG G7 - nope it's a 1080p screen. Want 2 years of OS upgrades - only on the flagship not on the cheaper varient.

Oh.
Really... That's messed up...

The previous S variant I saw had the full on specs... But then again..

Vendors just lazily cut n paste specs and expect the buyer to be very informed!.

Damn. Until I read these comments I was thinking this was my next phone (moving on from Galaxy S8). The specs looked good, a bigger screen, (but not too big) bigger battery AND a headphone jack. It ticked every box.

Are they REALLY that crap?

They aren't crap.. I've had a g3, g4,g5, and now using a g7.. they are amazing.. but just don't get them without a manufacturer's warranty and not a seller's warranty.
They are not crap but just make sure you get the G8 not the G8S.

G8 is more ergonomic, better screen res but logically worse battery life, bit better cameras though no telephoto. Problem is, you'd need to import it from U.S. as not sold in Europe. That should mean no warranty and software support in U.K. as opposed to European models like this one.

G8s still packed with luxury features and top specs, great value for this money, I'd also prefer normal G8 but not marketed here. You may also find V40 around this price, older but still formidable, as alternative @stanno
