The LG KE970 Shine mobile phone is part of the company's Black Label series, which was launched with the award-winning Chocolate handset. LG's Black Label phones promise a combination of impressive design and technical innovation, so what makes the LG Shine stand out?

Well, the name's a good clue.
The handset's slim metallic casing is combined with a large mirrored screen, giving the kind of polished gleam that suggests you've just started your spring cleaning. Below the screen there's a clever scroll key along with a couple of other selection buttons. It's an uncluttered minimalist delight - and is a mere 14mm deep.

Slide down the keypad and the LG KE970 Shine becomes a conventional mobile phone.
The high-quality 2.2-inch screen can be used as a viewfinder for the handset's 2 megapixel flash-enabled camera, making this a decent digital snapper.
It even looks like a proper digital camera from the back.Without the stunning case and the contemporary styling, the LG KE970 Shine would still be a good camera phone, but thanks to its glossy exterior, it's a remarkable one

Im looking for a goodish camera phone could i get a phone with better pic quality than this for the same price?

This is a great phone, wife has had it for two years, still not found a better one for upgrade. This is a tough phone, good phone, cam. She sent iphone back and kept this.

It's not a flip phone, although it looks like one

i had this phone and it was awful!!!! definelt read some reiews before buying, but if your just getting it for a backup, guess it wont be that bad, mine died on me, and lost all my numbers with it. But for £40, i suppose it aint that bad a deal.

Can anyone confirm that this phone is unlocked.

Thanks

You have to go into a shop. There is no guarantee that it is unlocked, just make sure and ask them before you buy.

I went into Carphonewarehouse in Bootle this week querying whether I could use an Asda sim in a Vodaphone phone (Asda use Vodaphone). The manager assured me that all of their shop phones were unlocked to all networks.
I have heard that this doen't apply to their mail order supply.

Lots of bad user reviews for this phone. see user comments on: mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/lg-…htm

Thanks for your helpful reply pinnman - rep added.

do not buy anything from cpw. rubbish after sales, just read all the bad reviews on the net.

I find it difficult to recommend this phone. I bought one from Tesco for £49 a couple of months back. You can get it unlocked from a market stall for about £10 (that's what I did).

It has two problems. Firstly, if you want to use the camera at 1 or 2 mega pixel resolution, there is no zoom. You can only use zoom in the lower resolution settings.

The biggest problem though is the reception - go to an area where its not so good and you will get none.

Good find, but I've had problems with carphone warehouse before. Hopefully it will not happen again.

LG shine is not a bad phone. If someone want to avoid paying £10 topup. Use the valid pay as you go SIM to use it as line upgrade. The PAYG sim card have to have a credit and fully activated.Tell the sale guy that you wanna upgrade from old payg phone. So you only have to pay the actual phone. I hope the price will come down a bit more.

Can somebody tell me if LG Shine is 3G or not. If I am not wrong, it doesn't support 3G.

Excuse me, but could you tell me how this works?

I have already explained how it works.

If you buy it as payg upgrade. You can avoid 10 pounds top up. It only works on certain networks like Orange.
