The LG KU990 Viewty is a sophisticated and usable touchscreen phone with a 5 megapixel camera and HSDPA. It has a 3 inch touchscreen with an easy to use interface, simply touch the screen with your finger to select the option you want. The new 5 megapixel camera has a xenon flash, auto focus and ISO sensitivity adjustment. It can record high quality video at 30 frames per second. There is also a secondary VGA video call camera. The Viewty has a built-in FM radio, an MP3 player and a video player. The LG Viewty has a web browser and a document viewer, supporting Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDF files. However, with no WiFi and with it's advanced media features the Viewty is more an entertainment cameraphone than it is a business device.

now that IS tempting! Hot vot from me

Anyone know if its easy to unlock (ie for free - im on O2)

I had one of these phones for a few weeks and had to send it back. It's a nice piece of hardware but the firmware is awful and nigh-impossible to adapt to the user's preferences. LG rushed it out after the release of the iPhone hoping to ride on the coat-tails of Apple and have never got round to revising the firmware to get rid of some of the infuriating operating glitches (the hoops you have to jump through to get the handset to recognise a memory card bigger than 2gb is one example.) The only decent web-support available is on the KU990.co.uk forum, run by lovely people with a touching faith that LG will someday deign to release improved firmware... they've been waiting for nearly two years. I have a cracked iPhone now, and it's everything they want the KU990 to be and isn't.

In defence of the Viewty - I'm biased cause I own one - yes it is a litle 'idiosyncratic' (understatement) when it comes to using the phone software to interact on your PC but the phone is, on the whole a cracker.

I can't compare it to the iPhone as I haven't used the iphone but it's worth remembering that the Viewty has a 5mp camera compared to the iPhone's 2mp.

The video on the Viewty is high quality and the large screen is very nice. I would say though that the on board mic of the Viewty is poor compared to the N95. I go to a lot of gigs and sound from the video is always totally distorted, whereas the N95 seems to pick it up clearly.

Overall, at that price, it gets a hot from me.

Thanks for the feedback and hot votes. I knew it wasn't a shocker price, and I know that some people dislike the phone, but for those who want it it's the best price available by far.

Glad you like it. Thought I'd bump it seeing as it was over a month since I posted it.

Is it phones that are on T-Mobile that you can put a Virgin SIM into? I'm on Virgin and they don't do these phones in their range.
