Looks good to me newcastle_fella

Being an offer from Play.com, this should be posted under Play.com deals & not LG.

Under £200 for a 22" is good value

Looks the business.

Looks good for the money!

(Quite a few laptop lcd screens have LG phillips screens and they last years!)

looks good, heres some more information: lge.com/pro…tml

Great find. Yes this is what we are all looking for... a monitor to which you can connect video devices... None of these LCD TV crap where it is a TV to which you can connect your PC!

amazing price for that. good fine, voted hot

this as Good as the Samsung 1???

specs seems good to me, and if its the one i think you're thinking of - the Sammy 19''er - then this is 3'' bigger. Size is everything ;-)

or are you referring to this ]http//pl…e=0 StuDAPoo??

If so, that Sammy, as a monitor kicks this LG out of the water. No comparison. This LG is a compromise between a TV and monitor

Anyone got any idea whether Play.com will charge you now if you order it, or will they charge you on shipping?

Hmm not sure about that, but i dont think so. I see what you mean about it being on that link. It also mentions about USB inputs as well which isnt listed in the spec. As its not HD ready, i doubt it has HDMI. Looks like the DVI supports HDCP though. Although that could be wrong too :giggle:

Welll ive ordered one, if its as good as my Samsung 19" 930 BF then I will be happy, and judging by the specs it should be.

Wow...looks brill....Will go well in a bedroom...So I just want to confirm I can connect other devices and use this as a standard TV as well..

yep its got a scart connection, also got a TV tuner inbuilt, but thats most likely an analogue tuner, so you'll prob be wanting to connect a digibox to it instead. I must say, this is a bargain for the bedroom ;-)

Cheers mate....Think I'll have to go for this one...lol....The chassis looks like a Samsung one...but don't wanna pay much for that!

Thats a bloody good price, especially with the tuner!

Great find

gone for this  cheers op

cant find the manaul or many details on the lg website though , will keep googling

be great if this does have an hdmi socket

Pretty sure this doesnt have an HDMI socket, but great deal nevertheless. Really tempted by this one...

Personally if I was buying one, I'd go for the Samsung Syncmaster also on the frontpage - but this one does have a TV tuner and is £40 cheaper, so it's up to you.

Could you explain how/why that Samsung is better than this LG?

It doesn't have HDMI but it got DVI with HDCP, so you just need to buy HDMI-DVI adaptor.

Some more info on German LG site.

The LG website is really confusing. Are the specifications below actually for the M228WA or are they specifications that may appear overall in LG's Flatron range? Because HDMI is listed, but the image next to it isn't the M228WA but the L246WP.

Still, £200 for a 3000:1 contrast ratio monitor/tv/display is pretty good value in my book. Quite tempted.

definetly no hdmi

aving.net/usa…101

not to worry though i have a hdmi to dvi cable for my playstation 3

be intrested to see how good the speakers are would be nice to bin my computer speakers at the same time

According to LG Germany there is no HDMI.

^^^ no didnt think so. Dont think the speakers will be anything to shout about.....3w x 2. I wouldnt ditch those PC speakers just yet ;-)

Has anyone seen this anywhere else? Just trying to decide whether Play's release date is accurate, since I have a E228WFP on order from Dell for (~£190 - 1-day price last week), so might ditch that and go for this instead, although with no reviews available yet, it could be a bit of a risk. Does anyone know whether this tv version is the same as the monitor version with the added tuner? (ie. no compromise on the monitor side). Thanks

Great deal, may all your future post be this good.

Voted Volcanic (even if u r a mag):-D

if its crap ill ebay it

I believe the contrast ratio is much better on the Samsung. The spec listed for the LG states a 3000:1 ratio, but this only a dynamic ratio not a static ratio. Cant seem to find any other specs to find out the static ratio though. The Samsung has a static contrast ratio of 1000:1 which is brilliant for a monitor. The response time is faster on the Samsung as well

A quick wiki of contrast ratios to refer to

Both are awesome buys, just think the Sammy would serve better if you solely wanted just a monitor, but the versatility of the connections etc on the LG makes it a hard choice

This is a great monitor for the office or bedroom where you also want TV functionality, or you have AV equipment. Or for futureproofing, you can shuffle this 22 incher from the office into the bedroom and couple it with an AppleTV or media extender of your choice and use it for a few more years.

That dynamic contrast ratio seems rather suspect. I guess the backlight can dynamically change brightness depending on the scene, but you can't have deep black and bright white at the same time. Deep black + bright grey, or dark grey + bright white. This might not be so bad though, unless the static contrast ratio is under 800:1.

Can anyone confirm this has TV tuner ?
The LG website spec does not show an RF input or any tuner spec.

IF the LG is :3000 Surely THATS better as its higher???

Annoying isnt it when companies dont list specifications correctly. The play spec says it has a tuner inbuilt (which would be analogue anyway). The LG site refer to it as a 'TV' monitor, that you can connect all your AV equipment to ie VCR, DVD, digibox. If i bought this, then i'd be connecting a digibox to it anyway, so it prob doesnt matter that it doesnt have an RF input

Im not really an expert on contrast ratios, but know that theres a difference between dynamic and static. Just cant see this LG having a static contrast ratio as good as the Samsung

I bought an LG 17" Widescreen TV . (was £250). Would this be an upgrade?

Also...
Can you plug in a conventional aerial for TV? Or will television viewing be better on the LG that we already have?

Thanks
