i bought this a week ago - wicked device - doddle to set up and does exactly what it promises...

Should amend it to include delivery

£190.27 inc VAT & DEL (1-3 working days) or add £1.99 to have next working day delivery.

Great find though, heat added.

You could but I don't see why you'd want to. It can be shared on your network.

I know you can't watch protected blu-ray movies from this without using the SlySoft decoder - but does anybody know if this can author Blu-Ray video; over a network - from my iMac (or PC if needs be).

I'd like to be able to make a Blu-Ray version of my wedding video; which will play in standard Blu-Ray drives; complete with chapters and menu system - i.e. not just burning a mp4 direct to disc.

I would have thought it probably can, with the correct software and iSCSI - but maybe someone knows definitively. I've come across some vague reports that burning might be disabled over the network, and that you can only burn content which is on the device itself from the web interface; which would rule out this kind of authoring.

Although our wedding was shot in HD; I've only been able to able to make authored versions to friends and family @ DVD quality - as I don't have a Blu-Ray writer yet (Though of course I can put the HD Video onto a DVD data disc; it's not the same elegant solution)

As I also want a NAS drive, I like the idea of archiving important files to Blu-Ray, and many of the other features of this LG - if it could also do the above, I'd be absolutely over the moon with this all-in-one solution

Potential 3% Quidco

Does the version with no drives have a different model name? Does anyone know the cheapest price for it (still want a BD writer though)?

can any of you experts help a poor noob by telling me if i can run my squeezebox from this....easily?

I'm very tempted but a couple of people using this say the media server is slow. I'll want it to stream H.264 encoded 720p and 1080p video to various points on the home network over a cable (not wireless) connection. Anyone know if it'll be up to it?

Has anyone got one of this? very tempted..
i got a readynas duo . would i be able to just plug in existing harddrive to work straight away or it will completely format my previous hard drive as I got 500gb worth of stuff already

Does it include 2x 500gb hard drive?
Not sure I should go for the upgrade to 2tb for my readynas duo or buy one of this?

Me too. Am I missing something?

It’s great when you open your gob and someone then asks you to justify your comments. I’m no expert but the software is much better, also the readynas duo is better at streaming video to my TV than the LG if someone else is accessing them at the same time. See this thread hotukdeals.com/dea…e=5

There seems to be more readynas duo forums, also it should be easier to get a bit torrent client working on the readynas duo. Although I’m struggling at present

I am probably the source of this derision as I bought and returned my N2B1 last week.

The Issues were:

The software as you noted did not allow torrent downloading, ddns seemed to kill access, dnla worked sporadically, if you used the one available firmware hack you could get twonky which worked OK, some settings took a long while to save, if they saved at all.
General speed of software use being slow, accessing slow, data transfers were OK when not cutting out.

Some of this may be attributed to my router etc but the poor software is certainly not.

I found ftp to be the most reliable for data transfers but tbh with having to abandon the software and going as low level as possible I would rather try a different product.

With the Netgear ReadyNAS DUO being the established and well supported NAS seemed like the obvious choice to try next.

Did u find the blu ray useful? What about SD card slot.. I take photos regularly and thought just slot it in the NAS for backup is quite a good idea

I had the dvd option, it shares the dvd drive as a disk drive like the actual hard disks so you cannot just stick a dvd/blu-ray in and stream it. You can use it to copy data, that is all. Sorry to say I never tried the sd card slot. I attempted to backup a 1tb usb2 drive...It got to 35% after about five hours at which point I cancelled it.
