Still can't stomach this until it hits the £1500 mark, especially as it was going that way for a while then magically bounced back up to £2k.

It didn't magically go back to 2K, the price drop was an announced time limited promotion by LG that's expired. But yeah, who wouldn't want them to keep falling. The new version B7 isn't hugely different, so massive price drops are unlikely for some time - along with LG being the only maker of OLED panels.

Panasonic do too, have done for some time... plus at least 6 other manufacturers are releasing OLED TVs this year

I disagree, I think the fact that the 2017 models are so similar is a reason to expect price drops, as LG won't want the 2016 models sitting alongside their newer ones, compounding just how little has changed. They'll want to get rid of the 2016 stock, and be able to keep the price of the 2017 models higher, in competition with Sony and Panasonic price points.

Out of interest, where did you hear it was a timed price drop?

I said make the panels. The others buy them from LG, add their electonics and so will never be cheaper.

There may be another drop to shed old stock but much beyond that it will be unlikely to see big price drops for the new line up as higher end LCDs are still so expensively priced - which is OLEDs real competition.
The temporary price drop was mentioned on avforums among others.

Panasonic use LG panels. LG are years ahead on the market regarding OLED.

Oh, I wasn't expecting prices for the new models to drop any time soon, I thought you were intimating that the B6 and the rest of the 2016 models wouldn't drop back to their pre soundbar promotion levels again.

Any idea where on AVF you read about this timed price drop? Was it in the owners' thread or an editorial piece?

IIRC it was Steve Withers who noted it.

How would this compare to a Samsung PS51E6500 Plasma?

Is it a significant step or am I still on the curve and need to wait a little longer?
