So tempted. But hoping there will be another amazing deal on the E7 around Boxing day sales.
PS. Same price on Peter Tyson and Argos
I held out and managed to get this for £1,350
Obviously there’s no guarantees, but I reckon it’ll be that price again.
My magic number is about £1,300.

about a month ago, everyone was saying £1,500.
With CES around the corner, I'd hang in for £999 for the 55inch and £1,500 for the 65 inch

Why not just get it for 2k JL pm and then get £500 LG cb
Decided against the LG OLED series after seeing it in action in store at both richersounds and pcworld, instead opted for Samsung qled, yes I know it's just a fancy LED screen in comparison but the colours and the motion smoothness twinned with blacks very close to OLED for less money I opted for that, plus as a gamer OLED screens apparently don't like static things like healthbars/map icons etc so to avoid that risk went with my gut and went Samsung, shame as the LG really did tempt me.

Where can I get JL to price match with?
My friend has a Samsung QLED and while the image is nice I hated the motion smoothing. His kids were watching a CGI movie and it kept flitting between 60fps and the actual framerate it was encoded in. It wasn't even subtle either, definitely something I would have to turn off.
QLED is a great tech though, I got a monitor to review and the colour out of the box with just brilliant. A shame that it only supported Freesync and not GSync though.

I don't think JL would price match it at 2k, that page never shows the price at anything less than £2,499, even adding to basket as the offer Implies doesn't take £500 off.

Ah I see. Apologies for being blind and dumb. Lol.

Will submit a JL price match now. Cheers!!

For what it’s worth I grabbed a 65B7 on the Back Friday weekend (£2100). Had it about 10 days and am still blown away by the quality of the picture. Blue Planet II in 4k OLED is staggering. Motion has been pin sharp as far as I can tell. Certainly no buyers remorse. If you are on the fence on whether to buy, my advice is just go for it and enjoy it at Xmas.

Are you a gamer at all? Wondering what peoples experiences are with the LG OLEDs that game. I was also worried about screen burn but not sure i game long enough at a time for that to be an issue.

wish there was an offer on the 65. must stay strong, not paying over 2k on a new telly!.

Cool. Great news. Still waiting for JL to respond to request.

Thx.
Looking at this or the C7, but holding off after reports of image retention. Not sure if a common problem with these models or just a case of an unlucky few making a lot of noise.

The previous deals were based on a mix up with how the cashback from LG was used. I doubt the prices will be anywhere near that again.

No - not a gamer, although am becoming tempted by the Nintendo Switch deals that keep cropping up here. Haven’t seen any screen burn issues at all but still very early days.

I am a gamer and I got one of these during black friday week. I nearly didn't buy one because of the screen burn issue. But this really isn't an issue at all as long as you leave the tv in stand-by so it can run its screen maintenance routine. Also just make sure you are watching a variety of stuff. If you play the same game for 8 hours a day and use the TV for nothing else then maybe it would be a problem. Even then I doubt it. OLED is just so much better than anything else out there and it's great for games.
Just got a reply from John Lewis saying that Reliant are selling for same price of £2499 so they don't need to price match.

I've since tried to try to put an order through with Reliant, but I don't get the £500 instant reduction at all. It still charges me the full £2499.

Any ideas how it works?
They've replied again saying the discount is only taken off when you call Reliant directly.

How did you manage to get them to price match @rpgmaker ?

I just told them they are doing it for 2000 after the discount and they just said they are happy to price match, not sure why they don't want to do it as i might of just got a nice rep who decided it was fine.

I've been sending emails back and fourth all day yesterday, but all 4 different reps are not budging.

They keep saying the offer is only valid if you call them up to give the discount manually, not via a code.

Surely regardless on how you get the discount, it's a genuine advertised discount isn't it?

Here's my trail:

JL:
Thank you for your email concerning a price match enquiry.

I’ve checked with Reliant Direct and have found that the LG OLED55E7N OLED HDR 4K Ultra HD Smart TV, 55" with Freeview Play, Picture-On-Glass Design & Dolby Atmos Sound Bar Stand, Silver is priced at Reliant Direct; this means that currently the item is the same price with us, so we won’t be applying a price match on this occasion.

ME:
Thank you for your reply. However, if you take a look at the offer they are offering, Reliant are currently discounting £500 immediately at checkout when you complete the purchase. I've attached a screenshot of this.

In this circumstance, would you be accepting a price match?

Many thanks again, I look forward to your good news.

JL:
Thank you for your email regarding the LG OLED55E7N OLED HDR 4K Ultra HD Smart TV, 55" with Freeview Play, Picture-On-Glass Design & Dolby Atmos Sound Bar Stand, Silver.

Having looked at the Reliant Direct website, and going through the order process I can see that this offer is not valid on all orders, and that you have to phone up the company to have any discount applied.

Unfortunately as there is no advertised code for discount, on this occasion we cannot agree to a price match.

If I can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.

ME:
Thanks for your reply. I would assume the £500 offer clearly stated would be enough proof that this is a genuine offer. Furthermore, I have read online that John Lewis has price matched this offer for many people already. Under what circumstances would those be valid? I look forward to your further advice on how I can get a good offer. Many many thanks.

JL:
Thank you very much for your reply.

The past offers which we have accepted were for Black Friday deals. If you do open the product in Reliant Direct, it clearly shows in description that this product is not eligible for LG cash back of the £500.

Therefore, we are still happy with our decision to decline your price match for this time, but if you do find the item cheaper elsewhere, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please do let me know.

ME:
Thank you for your reply. But I don't see how the LG cashback has anything to do with John Lewis price matching. The £500 offer is entirely from Reliant themselves and is a confirmed discount making the TV £1999. A full £500 cheaper before any cashback offers.

In this circumstance, surely I have found the same item cheaper elsewhere.

Please kindly escalate for a Manager's decision. Many thanks.

JL:
Thank you for your further response.

I have investigated your price match claim further and I am sorry to say that I will not be able to match the £500 cashback offered by Reliant Direct.

Having gone through the checkout on the Reliant Direct website I can see that at no point are you given the option to choose to apply the £500 cashback to basket, it is just listed as one of the offers included with the TV. There is no way to pick the £500 as a deduction from the price of the TV before you are required to pay for it.

There is no way on the Reliant Direct website to choose the £500 as a deduction from the cost of the item pre-payment, it is as Reliant Direct describe, a cashback offer not a pre-purchase discount. As per our Never Knowingly Undersold policy:

"We match price-based promotions given at the point of purchase, but we don’t consider service or reward-based promotions, such as trade-ins, cashbacks, extended warranties or express delivery".

As this is a cashback offer, we will not be proceeding with this price match claim. I am sorry that I will not be able to reduce the price further on this occasion.

I did send then an email but they just replied instructing me to call them so they can edit the price over the phone.

I've since sent that to John Lewis proving the offer is pre-purchase, but JL haven't replied.
