This set has been £50 cheaper previously but this is the current best price for this TV. Enter WINTER100 to take £100 off at checkout.

Not sure when code expires.

I don't believe John Lewis will price match but richersounds should.

Very tempting. But with the imminent release of LG's 2018 lineup, I'm hoping the price drops some more.

As good as these tv’s are please don’t buy one without a 5 year warranty, in fact I wouldn’t buy any tv without a 5 year warranty, I fix tv’s for a living and LG tv’s make up the vast majority of TV’s I fix, 90% are screen faults, also never turn an oled off at the plug , they run a screen cleaner that combats screen burn when in standbye , if you get screen burn and the service menu shows the screen cleaner hasn’t been run they won’t fix it .

I've only seen this in the flesh once at a Currys, and the only thing that was off putting was a 1 inch thick black border around all the edges. The 65 inch model looked like it had about a 1cm border which looked great, but the 55 had a thicker border. Is this perhaps something to do with the way the TV was setup by Currys, or do they all have such a thick border?

I have this TV and it's brilliant. No border to worry about. Picture is virtually to the edge provided the source is good. Netflix 4k and amazon 4k is superb and HDR is mind blowing. Freeview channels at 1080p extremely clear. Absolutely no regrets. Highly recommended.

John lewis would, They matched it on the E7V when that was at £1500. Richer sounds may be the better option with the 6 years if they still offer it

John Lewis will only price match coupons if they're advertised on the site itself, and this one doesn't seem to be.

When do you think they will drop n price further? I'm currently wanting to buy this TV but waiting for a deal. I was thinking about biting at this, would that be foolish?

Very good. For the last few years TVs have not been able to match the picture quality of plasma TVs that haven’t been made for four years. With OLED now being semi affordable they have now surpassed plasma for picture quality.

These are selling extremely quickly. I suspect they will all run out before they drop much lower. I waited too long to bite on the ks7000 last year and missed out completely.

The real deals are going to be on the 65" TVs and possibly the E7 in my opinion.

Last year as soon as the 2017 models released the 2016 model disappeared nearly immediately. I got caught out last year and OLED prices only came back down to this level in December when I finally bought one of these.
I assume the HD quality is compareable to most other oled TV's out there. This one caught my eye after reading the reviews but I also don't want to waste my money if its not going to achieve my objective.

Most of my tv watching a Standard Definition through ether freesat or a sky box. Is the SD quality of such low quality that its like watching a vhs video tape or does this tv upscale it to plasma quality?

To me the jump to OLED is far more impressive than the difference between 1080p and 4k. However out the box I wasn't completely happy with the colour setup but following this guide and the TV is just awesome. avforums.com/thr…41/

SD is not going to be great on any 4K set as it has to do alot of upscaling. If you are not watching HDR or got 4K sources I wouldn't bother changing your plasma at all.

For what it's worth the Sony sets are the best at upscaling from my own personal experience.

Its like watching SD TV on any other good TV. Its the low end 4k TV's that don't do so well with SD & HD.

Awesome TV, got this on a John Lewis price match when it was £1350. The picture is amazing and vivid with proper HDR 4k source.
4k is amazing but I was kinda expecting it to be over 1080p. What blew me away was the HDR... can't believe the difference that makes... and the blacks are so black on this set.
No one would be disappointed with this TV even if you paid £1500.
I was worried about the brightness OLED after reading some reviews but don't be. When watching planet earth 2 in 4k HDR... there is a jungle shot where the sun comes through the canopy... I actually shut my eyes as if I were looking at the sun it was so bright.

Only drawbacks are...
When watching SDR (non HDR) content (even 4k), things look washed out as you know how much better they can be.
The sound is tinny with built-in speakers but I doubt anyone buying this set would not have an AV receiver+surround or at least a decent sound-bar?

Think i'll wait for it to break the £1000 mark, if ever
Thanks for the advice guys.
I still got a valid pricr match for JL. In and out of stock all the time
I'm looking at swapping a 42 inch Panasonic plasma to a 55 inch 4K only as I want a bigger screen but as I don't have a 4 k source and only virgin media 720hd am I right in thinking that I'm going to be watching an inferior picture? Was looking at the currys exclusive 55 Panasonic
Ordered this after new years when it was £1350 from PRC. Great service highly recommended. Comes with 5 year warranty also so can't complain.

Me too. I've got the funds. But just waiting. I just don't think the prices of the 2017 will drop any time soon. Maybe by a £100 but will have to wait till summer for real discounts. But if JL price match this then I might just bite

Thanks. The 1cm on the 65 didn't look out of place at all, not sure why it was thicker on the 55. Maybe it had something to do with the feed that Currys were showing on most screens (65 was showing something else) because both the 55 C7 and B7 next to it had the exact same 1inch thickness. If it's only 1cm I'm going to bite the bullet.

They should do as I have a friend who got them to match an online code previously
LG's 2018 sets are going to have a major upgrade with motion handling - they have BFI (Black Frame Insertion) and are going to deliver up to 2160 lines of motion instead of 300 lines of the 2017 and older sets.

Mine is defo the 55 and defo 1cm. Haven't yet fixed up my j8 soundbar (complete with close coupled stand) but tv only sound is still very good. Top it off with an OFL rustic oak tv cabinet, 145cms wide. Perfect!

Whilst no doubt true, by the time those TV sets drop in price there will be other improvements in the next set of sets. At some point you just have to be happy with the price you pay for a good set otherwise you will never end up upgrading.

This (and the C7- identical aside from the frame colour and stand) has a ‘Highly Recommended - Best Value’ from ‘HDTV Test’, a best buy from ‘Which?’, 5 stars from ‘What Hifi?’ and numerous 9/10 or 9.5/10 reviews. The consensus seems to be that it is not just one of the best value TVs around but one of the best at any price. One of the reasons is that all that is different from LG OLED TVs higher up the range is the design and the sound, picture / feature wise they are identical. That isn’t the case with the 2018 models- the replacement for this misses out on some features and has a worse processor than the C models and above. Worth remembering these started out just under £3000 and it’s likely the new models coming from April onwards will likely be about the same. You’ll be waiting until the near end of the year to get one close to this price, and you’ll have to go one model up to get one that is likely to be significantly better (if any of them are).

I’ll be honest that me saying this is all (hopefully) confirmation bias, I did a lot of reading before deciding to buy. I managed to get John Lewis to price match this one at £1350, they finally got stock last week and it arrives on Thursday, can’t wait.
