For the best in image realism, OLED technology is still king. See the difference for yourself, with the LG OLED55B8S.

OLED – the gold standard for TV

Highly developed by LG, OLED TV technology remains at the forefront of image quality. Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) TV offers the most advanced picture quality currently available. Unlike LED screens, OLED doesn't require backlighting, so the colour is consistent right across the screen, with greatly enhanced contrast levels.

Alpha 7 processor – for enhanced picture processing
This LG TV features their advanced Alpha 7 processor. This provides improved processing over and above a quad-core chip. With the more powerful processing comes improved picture quality. Advantages including enhanced image rendering, improved shadow details and smoother motion, all giving a more realistic image than ever.

The widest range of HDR support with Active HDR
LG continue their wide range of HDR support with this flexible TV. Advanced HDR by Technicolor offers reference levels of image and colour accuracy. As well as Advanced HDR, this 55" LG TV also offers decoding for HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision. HDR10 is widely used on UHD gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft. HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma HDR) is a broadcast and user generated standard format that is set to become the standard for transmitting 4K signals.

Dolby Vision for dramatic imaging
Dolby Vision optimises the HDR format to give quite simply the sharpest, most accurate images possible. Dolby vision-equipped TVs, like this LG, can decode both generic HDR content and content that's specifically been encoded in Dolby Vision - a leading format in Hollywood and cinemas. Dolby Vision also adjusts the picture to take full advantage of each display's characteristics and presents an optimized picture for each scene in specially mastered content.

High Frame Rate Support via OTT*
High Frame Rate (HFR) support at up to 4K/120fps means the potential for smoother images with incredibly realism. With a variety of films filmed in HFR since the ground-breaking The Hobbit of 2012, this is the future of movie technology. The technology is also available on some TV shows and is especially impressive with sport. *OTT means that HFR is supported Over The Top using apps such as Netflix 4K. It is not available via HDMI inputs on this TV or simultaneously with HDR.

Part of the unique ThinQ AI system for effortless control
LG’s unique artificial intelligence system brings together a wide range of products under intuitive control. For your TV this means intelligent voice control and the ability to seamlessly work with third party services from Google and Amazon. The more LG ThinQ AI products you have around the home the more seamless and integrated the control becomes.

webOS Smart system now with Google Assistant
The award-winning LG webOS smart TV system is already one of the most highly-rated in the industry. Powerful but user-friendly, webOS makes Smart TV even smarter. Now featuring Google Assistant, webOS just got even better. Google Assistant is capable of changing the channel and input via voice command. It also integrates with services such as Google Photos and Google Maps to make your TV an even greater source of entertainment.

Freeview Play for catch-up TV
Freeview Play makes catch-up TV easy. Find programmes from BBC iPlayer, the ITV Hub, All4 and Demand 5 sitting alongside over 60TV Channels and up to 15 HD channels. Simply scroll back in your TV guide to watch shows you missed from the last 7 days. Just make sure your TV is connected to the internet and you're good to go.

Don’t settle for less. Go for the best, with the LG OLED55B8S.

This pricing error was up for around 2 hours, I would imagine only a couple dozen sold in total, why are you comparing a good deal to a total mix up on Costco's behalf?

This TV for under a grand is a good deal especially considering richer sounds 6 year guarantee, never takes very long for stupid comments to come through when an OLED deal is about.
Great TV, plus 6yr warranty. Although the photo is incorrect- its the SLC not PLA version in your link.

Might be useful to mention the make and model.

Oh now you have.

Great TV for that price
What's the prognosis? Will LG discontinue the B8 way before the B9 comes along so we won't see any major discounts?
‘ Aware probably reducing due to 2019 models been imminent’ - my favourite sentence form this post so far!:)
Just what I have been waiting for! But now needs to apply to Panasonic FZ802b!;)

I’d say this is already heavily discounted. The B9 is due and retailers will run down stock on the B8 as quickly as they can.
Great deal!

Guys, noticeable difference between this, c8 Sony AF9 or Panasonic FZ820b. I need to get one and don't want to rush...this sounds like a good deal...TIA!

Some people purchased a 65" QLED Samsung Q8 for £1199 after Christmas!
This to me was a better deal.

As for Costco, it was for more than 2 hours in a few stores. I was in one store as they removed stock.

Or via phone, They sold me the PLA version for the same price! so was a no brainer! Hence I would phone them and see if they'd offer the same price.
So taking into account the previous price match this is nearly the same price as before? Costco price plus membership minus RS price match?

Keep getting cold feet on this as I know I'll never get the super low prices some lucky people had. Got to tell myself as it wasn't widely available it doesn't count!

Both the Sony and Panasonic are using the C8 panel, just with different software and processors. Reviews generally say that the Panasonic has the best image processing (thx certification etc) while the Sony has the best motion processing for sport.

The LG C8 is a middle ground between both. All three are thus better than the B8 which is a tier down, if you can wait.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I didn't say the B8 didn't have the same panel just that it was inferior to the three other TVs mentioned. In this case due to the others having better processors. If there is no difference then I apologise.

As a C6 owner, for me, all the processing settings are simply a hangover from the bad old days of LCD. I turn everything processing and motion setting off as the panel on it's own is good enough. I trust my own eyes more than reviews and processing settings.

I got the Panny 802 just before Christmas to replace a 12 year old Panny Plasma. I'd been waiting and waiting and am so glad I took the plunge. It's a blindingly good TV. I got a UHD Blu-ray player as well and the picture quality is just fantastic. Even the missus who is a bit 'meh' when it comes to TV tech is impressed. Watching a CGI heavy UHD film (guardians of the galaxy 2 for example) is just awesome, the film might not be the best but the TV shows off the effects so, so well.
There is no difference in the OLED panels across LG, Sony and Panasonic, LG are the only company that makes the panels, it is all down to aesthetics and personal preference. The LG 'B' is the bottom of their range, uses the same panel as the others but has a less powerful processor.
I went Panasonic because I had been impressed with the quality of my old set and that it was (at the time with deals) the cheapest of the LG C8, Panny 802 and Sony AF8. If you look at reviews of all these TVs there is hardly anything to split them. They all use different smart TV systems, LGs is supposed to be the most comprehensive although my Panny has all of the terrestrial catch up services and both Amazon Prime and Netflix (in 4K). The Sony is no better than either the LG or the Panasonic and really doesn't warrant the price premium.
If you can, do a search for either the C8 or the 802, find the cheapest price and if you can get John Lewis to price match, I really do like their warranty.
The new LGs are coming in April according to avforums.com prices will be pretty much the same as the 8 series was at launch.

Here you go Panny 802 from TPS for £1375

TV noob here - Does Richer Sounds 6 year guarantee cover burn in? What is the realistic chance of burn in and what scenarios (time / TV channel / gaming) would increase the chances?
can somebody suggest a sleek wall mount. Looking at the pictures the tv is very thin and the wall mount is at the bottom. Is this a standard vesa mount or does it need anything specific?

Thanks in advance

Nope, none of the warranties cover burn in.
Normal TV use will not see any burn in unless you watch SKY or BBC news channels 8 hours a day every day.
Gaming, yes there is a possibility, especially if you're playing a HDR capable game for hours on end.
If you listen to music via the TV and it has a static image (Spotify via a Fire stick for example) then I would recommend using the screen blank setting to turn it off.
I had a Panasonic plasma for 12 years, used it normally, a bit of PS3 gaming, normal TV and movie viewing and no burn in at all, OLEDs are the same for burn in as a Plasma, use them normally and you'll be fine.

All the TVs use a VESA mount of some sort or another, look at the specs page for the TV to see what the size of the mount is.
I bought one of these ebay.co.uk/itm…760
Just make sure you use really good wall mounting bolts like these screwfix.com/p/f…358 and drill directly into the brickwork, not into the mortar.

Spot on, I've used the recommended settings from the review at avforums for mine. Even if you can't be bothered or don't know how to change many of the settings, please, please do not use vivid!

Is this a good tv ?
Superb spot @Leedsbou165 and welcome to your first 1000c+ HOT deal!!

I doubt the price reduction is due to the 2019 models, made in 2018 Q4, as they are using the same eBge made oLED panel as this one!! So BARGAIN!
As usual if anyone is looking to buy LG B8 and would like to see some videos about it then I have made plenty that others have found useful.Videos included the unboxing and set up of both the 55 and 65 inch, demos of low quality TV content, gaming, tips and tricks and loads more.

PM me if interested ; )
Sorry, hit cold by mistake. Under a grand for this TV is superb. Any thoughts on screen size v price? I would prefer a 65 but the £500+ increase in price is making me seriously think twice
I will be sitting around 7ft away so thinking 55 at this price should be good enough and won’t lead to regret that I didn’t go bigger
So tempted by this.... although kinda want airplay 2 support which is in the new models, but i assume the price will be much higher than this?

Also if anyone wants a Sonos soundbar for this, ignore the richer sound offer advertised and go on ebay using the current code for 15% off, the bean will work out at 299 where as RS are selling nit for 369 with voucher.
Been looking at this TV but lately I've been saying to myself if I get the 55" will I regret it a few months down the line and wish I got a 65"?!
