Perfect for a price match if you haven’t done so already

This Brand New LG OLED55C8PLA 4K Ultra HD OLED TV combines a flawless, impressively slim design with futuristic features, making this offering from LG effortlessly elegant and exciting!

Organic self emitting pixels achieve the deepest levels of black due to their unique ability to completely switch off - no light is emitted or passing through the pixel. This brings a huge range of contrast to your screen, bringing shades and colours to life in a way that LED TV technology cannot match. And with LG’s superb Alpha 9 processor, the picture clarity is enhanced even further!!

The huge 55 inch screen is expansive and absorbing, designed using cutting edge 4K HDR technology for a truly modern viewing experience. With a resolution four times greater than Full HD, the natural detail is crystal clear! With LG’s superb technology and craftmanship, pictures are full of vibrant colours, deep blacks, and awesomely sharp details. Utilising LGs four stage upgrading process you can also convert normal HD images to near 4K quality, allowing you to enjoy the awe inspiring quality in a huge variety of viewing.

LG’s Smart platform brings together all your favourite entertainment in one place, and with voice recognition, motion control and LGs magic remote there have never been so many ways to access it! With the OLED55C8 you have instant access to movies on demand via Netflix and Amazon Prime, and both Freeview HD and Freesat HD tuners.

You can also take advantage of Freeview Play which is a fantastic catch-up service, giving you access to the programmes you’ve missed over the last 7 days completely free of charge. You also have the entire web at your fingertips – browse, download, network using Facebook and Twitter – the possibilities are endless.

The LG OLED55C8 has so many features it will keep the entire family occupied and digitally connected. A very impressive offering from LG!

For something that gets used daily you'd be mad not to
Heat for the fact that JL will likely price match (they've matched DE previously). RS unlikely to because they expect warranty period to be like for like. Thanks OP

Think he was being ironic buddy.
And so begins the great C8 OLED sell-offs as the C9 enters the supply chain...
£1319 at Richer Sounds, but that also includes delivery which is £29.99 here.

They also don't seem to have too many left so may be oos before your price match gets approved.

Seeing so many Samsung phones having screen burns I want to avoid old TVs as scared channel logos will be imprinted onto the screen. spoke to Samsung rep regarding this when seeing the picture frame TV and he said aparantly they give 10yrs cover on it which I find hard to believe.

10 year screen burn warranty on a LCD screen is pointless. Their phones use different screens
I bought the C8 at selfridges for £1,170 on Sunday

I have bought many electrical appliances with many years warranty over the years and never used the warranties at all, my last LED Samsung had a warranty I paid for and never used, had it 9 years until I decided to upgrade, it was used daily and had kids poking it etc, still works spot on, I have just bough a new Samsung with one year warranty but that's about it, its the gamble I'm willing to take, if it breaks it breaks, shit happens.

I've used the warranty on my tv. Can't see the point in not getting one from JL or RS

Wow... amazing! Super cheap
Original price is a bit high, but definitely cheap for this TV.
I bought it a few months ago from RS for £1800. Picture is brilliant.
Got the 65C8 on a price match from John Lewis for £1600 just before Christmas. One of the best bargains I've ever had. Gorgeous TV.
Nice deal!

Difference there is the processor and the stand. The cheaper option uses a less powerful processor.

B8 is the bottom of the range; it's got a less powerful processor that isn't as good as handling smooth gradients (can be seen on things like skies for some sources; The Martian and Blade Runner 2049 are both good test discs if you want to see it in reality).

C8 is the next most expensive. From here on up all of them have the same electronics, and you're paying for sound quality and the physical housing/stand for the panel. I've got one of these, and I'm absurdly happy with it. Speakers here are in a 2.1 config, so though it takes an Atmos signal it fakes surround.

E8 has a 4.1 speaker bar to give better sound (not that I'm unhappy with the C, as I say) and the panel body is mounted on a glass back rather than metal, if you're the sort of person who looks at the back of their telly a lot.

There's a G8 and W8 as well for the properly loaded, but you almost certainly don't need to worry about them; they're art pieces as much as tellies.

thank you for the in depth info...... I have a high end amp and speaker system in place so the sound differences on the higher models wouldn't be a consideration. With that in mind if the better cpu is included in all the higher models, which is the cheapest model number i could get away with ? Is it this one linked in the deal OLED55C8PLA
thanks

That's the one, yes. The B8 isn't bad, really, and is a perfectly fine TV for its price - but it's worth paying a bit more for the better job the C8 can do if that's feasible for you.

At the heart of the thing, they're both using the same OLED panel. Both have a great image, even if there are minute differences that might sway a really sensitive person one way or the other (mainly in the exact gamma curve they use to handle HDR images brighter than they can display) most aren't going to even notice.

The big difference, and one you really should check out yourself if you're able to in a shop, is in the user interface. I really hated the Android-based system on the Sony when I tried it, but not everyone gets so upset about it.

On the other hand, switching from the Sony to the LG meant I had to accommodate about 10-15cm extra in height due to the stand, which required a bit of thought. So that might be important, too.

Last I heard the going rate was 1314.99, URINE luck
We have this TV and its brilliant. screen is lovely and thin. Could benefit from a soundbar if you are going to wall mount it as the stand itself helps direct audio. Without the stand it is noticeably quieter and less directional.
I would not buy another LG OLED. My B7 developed an issue with banding and then some kind of weird box visible on the screen 9 days before the end of the 1 year warranty. They have been an absolute pain in the ar$e to deal with and in the end I had to get the retailer to give me a refund instead. There is no way I would buy any TV at this type of money now without an extended warranty. I have replaced the LG with a Panasonic OLED which uses the same panel as LG. Panasonic are currently offering their own 5 year warranties on these sets and they are available for around £1300.

Nice. Link? I’ve not heard of these models but my current Panasonic plasma has lasted 10yrs without so much as a flutter (the remote unfortunately has seen better days as toddlers and teens chewed at it and threw it around the room over that period.....)
OLED without a reliable retailers warranty beyond the standard LG 12 months is like Russian roulette with £1300.
