Better to get a John Lewis pm for 2k then get £500 LG Cash Back so 1.5k

reliantdirect.co.uk/Tel…htm

Before people ask Hughes, reliant etc... are not included in LG cb offer.

That wasn’t meant anything against the op thou lol, heat for the deal as there’s no dependency on price match/cash back etc

Ask JL Ipswich (instore) to price match this. You can then claim £500 back from LG, so the TV will in the end cost you £1299.

If you get in store pm then it wouldn't show full tv price on receipt and that might affect LG cb.

No. From what I understand, the price paid to JL is irrelevant. I have a price match with them for this TV, albeit an online one; but they told me (in writing,) that the cashback is separate to any price match you may be given by JL.

Found the e-mail:

Dear

Thank you for contacting John Lewis with your enquiry.

I can confirm that the LG Cashback Offer is available to customers whom claim a price match on this product. This is because the offer is supplied directly from LG.

If you have any further queries feel free to include these in a reply to this email.

Kind regards,

David

Why are they selling it at two different prices online and in-store.

And two very different prices at that. 2500 vs 1799!

By the way the LG cashback from JL purchase is not confirmed. LG trying to get out of it. Because JL pass the cost of price match onto them.
Edited by: "andy1989" 27th Nov

If that is true there’s going to be a lot of upset buyers out there, John Lewis Richer Sounds have both refused me price match on the Hughes and Reliant Direct offers!

No they aren't.
Sorry but your analysis arrives at a conclusion that doesn't make sense.

JL cashback is iron clad.
The price match is an independent offering from JL.
Use your loaf.

Yes at full price. I personally think people will get it due to bad rep they'd get. But it's not as clear cut as many think unfortunately.

100% mate. I will definitely be after them having bought the TV (opened) on the assumption I'd get cashback. Having JL confirm to me aswell. Otherwise I would have gone for 55B7

I'd suggest if only buying like I did for the "guarenteed" cashback. I'd hold off till it becomes a bit clearer.

Yeah I got mine for £1599 too. But see id prefer the B7 at £1350 at Curry's tbh. So the cashback was the deal maker in my case. Yep I'll be furious with both.

Has any tried doing a JL online price match based on this deal or its a pointless exercise ? Not sure if JL honour the store prices.

Let's just go back to business basics shall we.
Retailers buy products at a price from a supplier. They then choose whatever price they want to sell for to determine their profit.
Thats why it's called 'recommended' retail price.
They could quite happily sell this tv for 10 quid. They would quite obviously lose money too.
In short LG has nothing to do with how much money the shop chooses to make or lose. They are simply giving back some of the money the retailer has already paid them for the tv and it's their choice how much.

It doesn't matter what they think.
JL's policies are their own business.
You are misinforming with hypothetical uninformed piffle.

Read up on how contracts and terms and conditions work. They are explicit for a reason.

If LG or JL want to fight it then more fool them.

Yep if enough of us threaten court action they will pay up imo. The one thing they have on their side is "or any other reason" in T&C's however a judge shouldnt look to kindly to a catch all clause such as that.

The JL price match and the LG cashback are 2 separate contracts as far as you're concerned.

If JL price matched you not realising that the was from another retailer that had alrady applied the LG cashback in advance, thats a problem between JL and LG. Its got nothing to do with you.

You have 2 relationships - you bought something from JL, the price of which is between you and JL.

You also have a deal with LG who said they will give you cashback on a certain model of their TV.

Even if JL sold the TV to you for £1, LG still owe you the cashback.

Unless your TV set is broken, you'd be crazy to buy a TV this year. The new HDMI spec will be generational (so to speak), and TV manufacturers will be desperate to flush these old sets out of retail next year

What is this new HDMI spec you mention and will it change T.V standards?

Submitted a store price match last night for the 1799 (after having an online one accepted yesterday at 1999) so I'll let you know if I get it when they call back today

I can’t conform JL specifically, but that is how it works with many of the larger retailers.

Sounds like LG are doing everything they can to wriggle our of this one - (I sense a goodwill gesture coming), but I think if buyers stand firm on this, then neither LG or JL will want the negative PR. JL will be the side to pressure.

Depends on how many people are affected, of course. That’s probably why LG are asking for customer details, price paid etc, in order to work out numbers and what it’s going to cost them, either way.
