Someone pointed out the other day that new models come out with very little discernible difference from the previous models

I will throw my hat in the ring now and say what I think.

All software and hardware companies are getting like the FIFA games.
The new yearly version comes out and it looks just the same with some small updates.
Phone manufacturers are the same. New version out and update it for 2 years. Then make you buy the new model, because they stopped making their own updates for android.
Just put the hardware in that will compensate for 4k HDR, write decent software for it, put it in the telly and SELL IT TO US FINISHED. Then just send unobtrusive updates over FTA
How hard does it have to be?

Rule of thumb when buying a TV
If it covers all the connections you need, buy it
If you like the look of the picture, buy it.
If there's not lots of cables to come out of it and stops the wife moaning, buy it.
If it does what YOU want it to do, don't listen to the vestel brothers, nit brigade or the fald cavalry, BUY IT

Yeah, you were wrong last week and you’re still wrong today. It’s not glass on glass - it’s picture on glass. All LG OLED’s display their picture on glass. The little bit of glass that sticks out underneath your TV might look cool but does not change the image quality whatsoever: rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-c8-vs-lg-e8/600/608

In fact, the C8 actually appears to be thinner with a slightly smaller bezel so it could be argued which one is more aesthetically pleasing

Finally, all reviews say that moving the soundbar to the back of the panel has unfortunately reduced the quality of the sound compared to the E7. Still maintain you’d get better results from a separate soundbar

You bought a great TV but you can stop pretending that you have better image quality than C8 owners. You don’t

One last time: picture on glass does not affect image quality. C8, E8 and W8 all have identical panels with identical image quality. Post me one credible piece of evidence that says otherwise if you can find it?

Personally I’d save the money, get a B8/C8 and spend the difference on a discrete sound solution. The soundbar in this is supposed to be a little underwhelming

Shouldn't this one be expired and your's be re-opened as your's is only 13 days old??
Is this worth the extra£500 over the B8?
Probably just me but I hate that stand
How can this be cheaper than the c8

Not in my opinion.
A7 Vs A9 processor...from what I can see...Im guessing the A9 eliminates that judder some ppl are complaining about on the B8? Damn TV buying is so complicated! 😁

Desig is also quite different and may appeal to some people. The E8 looks stunning. The sound from the E8 is also quite a bit better. Useless if you have a good sound system but if not it can be seen as being worth a few quid

I'd love to know where you can buy the C8 from a reputable dealer and still have enough left over for a decent sound solution.

Bear in mind, I’m not talking about a receiver and speakers setup. I’m saying the majority of soundbars will outperform this. 55” C8 can be had for £1450 if you shop around giving you £100 to play with. If you’re happy to go for a B8 (and the difference between B8 and C8 is negligible) you can get a 55” set for as low as £950 giving you £600 to spend on audio

Here’s a good one. C8 vs E8 comparison straight from LG’s website. You do not have a clue what you’re talking about. Can only assume you may have believed a few lies told to you by a TV salesperson and now you’re trying to justify your purchase

Nope I agree with everything written in that showing that you don’t know how to read or apply what you have just read.

Yeah, didn’t realise the C8 was still so expensive. B8 is an option though and £600 could get you a decent receiver and 2 bookshelf speakers which has a lot more room for potential upgrade

Not saying the E8 is bad or don’t buy it. Just pointing out that there are other options out there. Any 2018 LG OLED is a great purchase

I don't think so but you'd have to be on like a news channel for like 10 hours continuous for something to happen.. What I'd like to know is if you turned off the tv to get a drink or even seconds would it reset that time as this year's LG OLED are also monitors..

In case you hadn’t gathered from the posts above, Paddy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. That won’t reset the time, no. OLED burn in is the result of cumulative hours due to the materials aging. You can mix stuff up as much as you like but if 75% of your time has a particular logo or something present, you’ll probably get burn in

That’s not to say it’ll happen. Rtings have done extensive real world testing and their summary is that the majority of standard TV users won’t suffer from burn in. But if you watch BBC News for 10 hours a day or play Overwatch for thousands of hours, you’re probably better off with an LCD

If you’re using an LG OLED as a monitor, just set the taskbar to auto hide when not in use and set your wallpaper to rotate every once in a while and you shouldn’t have any issues

OLED burn in based on cumulative hours, not successive. I eagerly await your evidence based response that will never come. Carry on with your pointless trolling though

I realise that is a marketing video, but if everything in that video is true, then I think the A9 is definitely worth the extra.
