First deal posting, so go easy on me!

I was looking at buying the LG OLED65B7V and saw it on offer at Currys for £2789, but found you can add a discount code LSTV10A to get it for £2510.10 - cheaper than I could find any other deals for, and with a 5 year guarantee!

Top features:

- Experience Premium 4K HDR on an OLED screen with Perfect Black and Perfect Colour
- Dolby Vision combines with Multi HDR for astonishingly lifelike picture quality
- Huge atmosphere from Dolby Atmos sound
- Ultra-slim design creates a striking picture on metal effect
- Enjoy the best of Smart TV with LG webOS

I purchased in store (took ages to get the code applied in store, but got it in the end) and they threw in a month of insurance (will cancel after the first month) that should cover me long enough to get it on the wall safely!

Be aware that your warranty is with Currys, not 5 years with LG

Was told incorrectly in-store when I bought my 55

I have got so bored of the chat on this site. People need to save their personal opinions for dinner time.

It's neither entertaining nor useful to wade through the never ending comments about how 'It's crazy to spend xxx on a xxx. You'd be much better saving it to pay down your mortgage before rates go up.' Yawn.

This site should be reserved for comments about the price and quality of a product. Head to mumsnet if you want to share life lessons.

You are not wrong; but you are also a bit out of touch.

Some people have enough disposable income that such items are not even considered a luxury. Bear in mind that we spend a significant amount of time looking at screens in our lives and some people wish to maximise that experience through superior quality.

Personally I wouldn't spend 2.5K on a TV although I could easily afford it, but then I also wouldn't spend money on a lot of things that some enthusiasts pay a premium for (Scotch, tobacco, narcotics). I did however spend 5 times as much importing real-cane-sugar Pepsi and Coca Cola. Worth every sip. If you asked me 2 years ago how much I would spend on headphones I would have sad £10-15 max. Recently I bought the Bose QC 35 (Mk II's) and they might be the best purchase I have ever made. At work coding, just slip them on and let the world melt away.

People have their loves; home cinema is one you find a great deal of on HUKD.

Like the old saying goes..."what the hell else we gonna do?" ( I doubt my kids would like me jetting off around the world and missing their school plays, also, you know, it's illegal to abandon them).

Crazy money for a TV, though I guess for OLED it's probably the going rate, personally I'd rather have a TV without the big O and save around £2K.....

The code doesn’t seem to work on the C7. :-( Great price.

Thought it wouldn't be long before Curry's had this code on again. That beats my offer from tps with 7 years warranty. Heat added. When will it go below £2500!

Afraid not

I *think* it's just a different stand on the C7 for this generation, but I'm not totally sure

Really good TV at a good price price. I picked up one a few weeks ago and OLED blacks are fantastic. For anyone looking to game on the TV though I would not recommend in its current state. Latest software patch kills the brightness in HDR game mode. Ok at night but very noticeable during the day.

Yeah. It is. But the wife has only signed off the C7. Although in fairness I’m in agreement! These codes usually worked on both!

The C7 stand is nicer in fairness, but that wasn't in stock here regardless so I could only have the B7 (I'm impatient!). Hope you find a C7 soon!

Isn't it funny how because OLED is "in" people on the whole don't make the insinuation of being a ridiculous amount to spend on a tv.

My 65” C7 turns up tomorrow. I originally ordered the B7 when the 10% code was previously running in conjunction with 6 months of free Netflix, £70 TCB and 7% off with a retail vouchers thing through work. Think it came out around £2,300 but was stressful trying to stack all the tricks and hoping it would actually come off! Then the C7 came back into stock first and Currys let me switch to it. I have an older 55EC930V and love it so can’t wait for a 4K model.

I think the answer is "it depends". I hear that QLED is better at reproducing colours, but can't do deep blacks like OLED. QLED is brighter.
I went OLED as personally I preferred the way it looked, but I doubt you'd be disappointed with either!

OLED is the way to go IMO.

Get down to Costco or PCWorld and look at the latest Samsung QLED then look at the LG OLED.

OLED is worlds apart IMO. However any TV that is UHD premium certified you'll be happy with

Dunno.
I spent £3200 on an 80 inch tv 4 years ago...looking to upgrade to something like this my brother in law has this t.v. and it does have an incredible picture in terms of contrast

Great tv. I bought the 65C7 from richers sounds for £2599 With 6 years gurantee.

I really wanted the C7 over the B7. The stand looks a lot better on the C7 and the bezel is black.

Thank you , John Lewis price matched the 55bv7

Damn it! Prefer the overall look of the C7 (but not the stand). Arrgghhh!!!! I set myself a £1500 limit but still tempted.

One certainly could gain some fab life experiences with the cash (as you have demonstrated); I guess the reality is that if people want a big TV for less, they probably can save themselves about £2K, and spend the saving on their preferred life experiences. Perhaps a £2.5K TV may be aimed more at people that can afford the luxury of the flash/daft TV *and* fab life experiences.

Of course, life experiences aren't the only thing people spend money on. This TV comes with a 5 year warranty; if it lasts only for those five years breaks the day after the warranty ends, it will have cost about £42 per month. Some people would happily pay that per month to own a telephone (and yeah, I know it will take nice pictures/connect to the web really fast/talk to you when you are alone in the dark at night, but it's still a phone ) - something which would seem utterly daft to me!

You should be grateful for early adopters; without them you won't be able to buy an OLED TV for < £1000 in 18 months.

Also, it's quite a difficult comment to read due to your "unconventional" approach to spelling and grammar, but I think people who have £2500 to spend on a TV might also be able to afford holidays to Amsterdam. Also TVs last longer than a holiday...

Not sure where this figure has come from. You can't get an old 65" OLED from a few years back at this price.

I have also been looking for a 65" TV for my bedroom (OLED/LCD anything...) and the cheapest I can find really from a decent brand is £1,000...

Same decision as me. I also understand that the C7 has a slightly different processor to the B7. Everything from C7 and upwards though is identical in terms of quality, etc.

I know the 2016 models were like that, but everything I have read about 2017 models suggests they all share same processor (although I believe E7 and G7 have twin tuners).

This is a really good price for what you’re getting.

Edited by: "husna2000" 30th Oct

Spoke to a LG rep at John Lewis over the weekend and he said the only difference between the B7 and G7 was the sound bar on the flagship model and the picture on glass effect. Otherwise the tech and screen is the same on them all apparently..not sure if true, but he was a proper rep and questioned why I was looking at the G7.
