My 2.5 year old Samsung QLED developed a fault a couple of months ago and JL gave a full refund without any issues.

I then purchased a 65 inch LG E9 from them (for this price) because of that.

Not in my experience. I have had excellent customer service twice from JL with items that developed faults. Once with an MS Surface and once with a Microwave.

Got to stick up for JL .My 2016 Oled TV packed in Dec 18 and after Martin Dawes failed attempt at repair they refunded on phone immediately and in full.
Never had much to return but would order a expensive TV without worry .
PurpleRain2129/03/2020 23:57

How?

Richer sounds price beats and takes £20 off. The amount taken off depends on the price range of the item.

I agree they're good. What was wrong with your 2016 oled just out of curiosity?
Who would you choose to buy from, John Lewis or Richer Sounds?
Who is more likely to be still in business in 5 years? Please advice.

There are many reports of JL not backing up their warranties anymore, fair play they did for you, but i wouldn't risk it anymore with them, where as Richer Sounds are well known for their 6 year warranty, price beating price match and the best CS.
I'm still waiting for this or the 65" C9 to come down in price - could be a while though 😩
Do you reckon it's better to go for a 65 OLED or a 75 QLED?

Iam on about actual dealings I had with them not ....known reports from people when we don't know the facts .I find it extremely unlikely JL would deny any genuine warranty claim and for record Costco trump them all for CS with their 90 days no quibble return .
See if RS will let you return your TV after 2 months no questions asked if you fancy a different one.

It wouldn't power up so they sent engineer from Martin Dawes who diagnosed a main power board (seemed reasonable) .4 days before Xmas 2 guys arrived with a new curved screen as it was the curved 3d oled model. I did point out their colleague said it was power board but they claimed it was definitely screen .Alas after fitting screen it still didn't power up so they carted it away saying ' be after Xmas now .Not feeling best pleased I rang JL and told them of my experience and lady agreed IMMEDIATELY to refund the set and refunded back to my debit card.
I would ignore scare mongering about JL as you can imagine the number of TV they sell and also the characters trying a fast one .
I'd say a fair price for this , though may go slightly lower over coming weeks, this around £1850 would be a bargain.

Without a shadow of a doubt Oled is better. Qled is just Samsung’s gimmick tv. Expensive as it is still a normal led tv.

Yeah I know it's better. But is it better enough to sacrifice 10 inches?

Only you can decide that.

I was in the exact same situation and part of me wishes I went for the 75" Qled.
I went for a 65" C9.

If you go for Qled, make sure it's one of the better models with full array, you don't want edge lit.

Oled does have a better image to my eyes due to the better contrast and inky blacks but the negatives are the screen burn worry (having to baby it a little) and maximum size is 65" for reasonable money
skankingpigeons30/03/2020 07:32

Definitely worth the sacrifice. As the Qled tv is bigger but as with anything that size the picture quality will be of great sacrifice due to the QLed technology.

Waiting for a decent top end saying qled to come up.Fingers crossed.

Why would you even be gullible enough to swallow that when even the 2018 55" C8 is still retailing at £1299?

Do you mean B9?
Would be concerned about burn in. 2 friends have LG 55" OLEDs. One has his being repaired under warranty (2.5 year old set) and the other is battling with their retailer for the same. Both have noticeable, permanent burn in.
Does E9 benefit in better game performance or fast paced sports over B9/C9?
