Hi just sold my Galaxy S2 for £210 and thought this would be a good upgrade just for a few pounds extra (£7.00)

So this is how it goes:

12Months x £15.50 O2 100 = £186 (Go on O2 chat and Down grade possibly on month 11 as I’ve done this before)

12Months x £10.50 O2 50 = £126

Total = £312

Less £55 Automatic cash back - u don’t need to do anything
(you will get this after 3 months)

NEW TOTAL = £257 for an Quad core LG Optimus 4X - same spec as Galaxy S3 and One X

Possible £40 cash bacl making it £217.00

Thanks for the effort OP, seems pretty good to me.

Glad to hear you can get £210 for a pre-owned S2! Was that on eBay? Gonna sell mine in a few weeks when I get my Note 2 upgrade

Yes Ebay - they go between £200-230 depending on condition, mine was bad lol
why go to all this trouble when you can buy a sim free one for £299 in expansys.
another thing this is an LG phone....
What if the lowest traffif after 12months is 15.50 as they might change the priceing structure of their tariffs?

Buyer beware this company has some dodgy practices, have a record of failing cash backs, quidco etc. You have been warned they l may not honour their promises.

There complaints department is non existent and they are unhelpful, and won't sort out your problems should they arise.
O2 don't allow downgrade anymore. Check their latest T&Cs effective from 30/03/2012
O2 will not let you downgrade.

My evidence is I have casual sexual relations with an O2 employee.
Not to bad deal..but at the end of the day.. its LG.
Awesome phone. Good deal.
The Optimus 2x has given me so many problems Ive ended up buying a Lumia 800.
Mind, I put ALL of that down to "rooting" the phone. MASSIVE mistake. It was fine before, never was after.
Sounds like 'Andrew' wanted a date...
In the last few years, LG have rapidly become the worst phone manufacturer...

You're much much better off pre-ordering an HTC 8X or getting yourself a GSIII in my opinion.
just spoke to o2 regarding this

shop.o2.co.uk/FAQ…IFF

they said you can downgrade only once to the next lowest tariff only only after half your contract i over

Cassie: If you take a 24 months contract, you can lower your tariff only one step down in the contract itself.
Cassie: You can't change your contract to 12 momths.

hope that clarifys things

Rooting my o2x was the best thing i did to it, the stock LG software sucked, rooting and flashing roms made it bearable. But still after 12 months it sucks, spending the amount i did for a phone that only sort of works is stupid. Their update to ics is supposed to finally make its better but i really think the only way I would buy lg again is if the lg making the next nexus phone is true

LG......LOL
Think the 4x is lot more sorted than problematic 2x was
It does have problem with video focus though
otherwise it a great phone shame because 1080p video looks quite good

I have an O2X and I am annoyed at LG for making crap firmware for the phone and taking the **** with the ICS update...BUT once I put a custom rom on it it was fine.

Saying that though...I would avoid LG next time, lol.

I bought the O2X knowing I was getting a phone with good hardware for cheap cos it had crap firmware that I could fix with a custom rom...and it did work out.

Install Flix123's rebuild of 20s or Temaseks 135.1, there are no issues with them.

For those laughing at LG, they are doing the next Nexus phone so I'm guessing they've improved in recent years

they have great hardware but really bad software support.
this will definitely change when they do a nexus phone
stepp

LG......LOL

Try and actually do something for this site like share a deal once in a while 5 years+ and 2 deals LOLWUT.
COLD for me sorry... because

1. LG are sh*t houses and their phone software is sh*te
2. Its a cashback deal - in isolation not an issue but with the other issues....
3. Debate on whether you can downgrade or not....
4. Crap price plan, why not just get it on a decent plan rather than pay for a sim only as well
5. Did I mention LG are sh*t houses and their phone software is sh*te?

LG make great phones but the software is buggy, under optimised, full of bloatware... leading to crap battery life, SLOW as hell and constantly crashing.

Only way i'll ever buy LG again is if they make the Nexus phones

OP, after a few weeks with this you'll feel like its a downgrade from your S2.
Edited by: "morpheus" 7th Oct 2012
be advised that this have locked bootloader and last time i checked there was no way at all to install custom roms

that would be not a big deal, but lg is one of the worst when it comes to bug fixing and software upgrades
For those laughing at LG, they are doing the next Nexus phone so I'm guessing they've improved in recent years
Great spec if you can indeed get it down to £257.
Though, like others have said before, LG hardware is pretty good but they are terrible at software. They promised the ICS update for the Optimus 3D for end of September at the latest and it still hasn't been released.
Looks like Google have come to their rescue with the next Nexus phone being a modified Optimus G. For now they should just stick to making Nexus devices so they don't have to worry about the software side or just sell their mobile devision.

YOU CAN NOT DOWNGRADE!!!

Read what it says on the link you posted.

"But you may not move to a lower priced tariff than the one you joined during your contract."

You can UPGRADE to a higher tariff but you can not downgrade to a lower one. This deal is non existent.

You used to be able to downgrade before o2 changed there T&Cs around march time.

24 x £15.50 = £372

Minus the £55 cashback it becomes £317.

Which is more expensive than you can buy the phone for outright.
OP/Mods
pls change/expire this deal

as per T&Cs, you can't downgrade after 12 months:

shop.o2.co.uk/FAQ…IFF

Can I change my Pay Monthly tariff?

Yes, new and upgrading customers on 12, 18 and 24 month contacts with a handset can move up to the tariff you want (except On & On tariff). But you may not move to a lower priced tariff than the one you joined during your contract.

i know thats why i contacted them directly just went in store now to confirm at the store also said you can downgrade after 12 months i put that link because of the seemingly inconsistency i also showed them the information. they said you cannot change your contract after your minnum term is over which is half your contact. iam just passing information on.

also talk to them on o2 chat they will say the same thing even after showning them the link????????
They are telling you the old T&CS.

Get the deal and in 12 months time when you can not downgrade give me a pm and I will have a good chuckle.

I am trying to help people out by telling them O2s t&cs which means you can not downgrade.

Make things clear? You posted a conversation saying it could be done then posted the T&Cs where it tells you it can't.

You are not helping anyone but just creating more confusion.

Hiya All,

Well, I've just upgraded this phone through Phones4U.....I'm with Orange and it was upgrade time. Been looking at all the reviews and online vids and am pleased with the phone......Looked at the One x, no SD slot and S3 and I don't forgive Samsung after the i8910 debacle.......

I phoned Orange and all they offered me was slap in the face I have two contracts with them and was very disappointed at their attitude and offer....

I've alway been able to upgrade to the latest phone for free.....I was looking at the S3 (Although I once said I would NEVER buy a Samsung phone ever again) as Orange didn't carry the LG 4X....

Orange's offer was this:

1) Stay on the same contract and pay £41 a month....50% increase over what I am currently paying!?!?!
2) Stay on the same contract and pay £159 for the phone.....er, no.....Remember, I like free ;O)

I asked the Orange chap if he was serious. He said yes and I laughed. Considering when I upgraded last time, they gave me a free Motorola Atrix which had just been released with the free dock pack.....

Well I told them that I might as well leave as there were alot better deals out there with their competitiors......left it at that and they then had the cheek to send me one of their telephone surveys......Oh how I replied......LOL

Anyway, I then looked online an looked at CPW and P4U etc.....Couldn't get through to CPW.....their lose....

Spoke to a very helpful chap at P4U.....and they offered me the following:
Orange Panther 36
18 Month Contract
1) 400mins
2) Unlimited Txts
3) 750Mb of Data
4) Free access to BT Wifi hotspots
5) 2 Orange Swappables.

Oh, and the LG 4X FREE!!!! All for £28.50!!!

Now for me this is a great deal FOR ME, as I'm getting more contract wise then I had before and I get a very well recieved quad core handset

The phone has had on the whole very good reviews, and is a steal at the moment......not bothered about rooting or having the latest OS version.....As long as the phone burns rubber, takes a decent pic, play video well and has a SD card slot then I am a simple happy bunny

Looks like the P4U advertising is spot on!...LOL

Shop around and you will get a good deal

Happy Shopping
Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but many on the peeps are right here about being unable to downgrade. I was lucky to downgrade this month as had started this contract in Oct last year.

The T&Cs changed earlier this year. Doesn't really matter what the o2 adviser (online or in store) says. They are not always right (the customer is lol). When it comes to 12 months time, the same advisers will be happy to quote you the T&Cs.

Unless you can get it in writing, that o2 can verify was actually quoted by their member of staff, then you you don't have a chance. Even then o2 could say that they provided you with T&Cs for your benefit so you should have read them.

The only O2 tariffs available that are worth doing these kind of deals on are the ones with the data bundle on which you can remove. Just need to check that the Phone supplier (e.g. Affordable Mobiles) won't chase you for downgrading your tariff. The only argument you gotta have now is that removing an extra (bolt-on) is not part of the contractual tariff.
