LG Pad 8.3 Black or White - £99 @ Asda instore

Bought a black one of these from the Milton Keynes branch. They had a black and a white one left. These are old stock but sealed boxes that they are getting rid of. They do not have them on the shelves where the tablets are displayed but had mine in the glass cases where you go to pay for them.
Excellent tablet - HQ metal chasis - micro sd slot up to 64gb , HD screen, 2gb ram, 16gb internal storage - apparently getting lolipop version of Android.

The 7 inch is a very different tablet! The 8.3 is superior.

Great tablet.....great price.....

How does this compare to the hudl 2? Same price but hudl has newer os? ?

the LG is a high quality top brand tablet up there with the likes of apple ipad mini & asus nexus 7 ( better than both imo ) while the hudle2 is similar to the cheap chinese Ainol brand.

Dual speakers on hudl2 but no gorilla glass.

great tablet...using one now.

Can you get these at Asda Livings?

I've got a refurbed hudl2 at home that I haven't used yet, wondering if this is worth the extra £20. I can't find any definitive comparisons but trusted reviews say the LG is one of the better screens at this price point. Incidentally my local Asda still has this priced at £179 but there was no one around to ask this morning.

I bought both my daughters Hudl2 tablets. They are actually pretty good devices. One of the strengths is the screen quality. The sound is also pretty good. The reason I bought the Lg Pad was because it has a (mainly) metal chasis - it has a premium feel to it - much like the Ipad mini ( but with a better screen and expansion options) and because I hope it will have a better chance of updates. It also has two speakers like the Hudl 2.
I think the LG screen is as at least as good as the Hudl 2 - the Hudl will go brighter but the LG is more natural.
Hudl screens have a pretty poor reputation for robustness and Tesco support is lousy but if you have already bought one - you should maybe stick with it because in terms of general use - there will not be a great difference.

Thanks for the impressions, that's exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for.

Well, just popped back in Asda after work and it scanned at £179. Decision was made for me.

I've got the LG V400 (7 inch) but at this price for the massively superior 8.3 it might be time to sell it.

Has anyone had any joy of getting one of these for £99 in the Manchester area? I'm looking to get one next week but I'd prefer not to embark on a wasted journey.

Thanks in advance.

The build quality of the LG Pad is very similar to the ipad mini. It also has a far better screen, memory expansion and is quicker. The mini is a fair bit lighter though. You need to go to the mini 2 to get similar performance / screen quality.
I compared the two side by side today.

Tried a few ASDA's now around Manchester with no luck.

Resorted to a Grade A one from CEX at £110 + £2.50 delivery charge instead.

Received a mint black LG 8.3 this morning. The box was a bit tatty but the tablet had no marks on and still retained the screen protector. The plug and charger were still in their original wrap. The tablet isn't as smooth as I expected and was hoping it would have an OTA Lollipop update but it's still on KitKat.

Thanks for this. I think they're rolling out an OTA update, but if not you can manually upgrade using the official update, see here

Mine came with a 16gb Micro SD included in the box, fully sealed. Might be worth mentioning that in the deal if it is still going lool
