Voucher is for NEW CUSTOMERS.

Yes, it's a voucher deal but it's a good deal none the less.

Before anybody says, it's a PORTABLE drive which means it's a 2.5" drive inside which doesn't need a power supply (it's usb powered) So that's why it costs more.

Through mechanic design and the Aluminum surface, regular temperature is maintained. Dynamic look and movement effect through its hi-glossy design.

Key Features:

Backup Program
Anti shock with internal suspension
Aluminum surface for cooling
Hi-glossy design

Form factor 2.5"
Total capacity 500GB
Connections: USB 2.0
Cache 8 MB
RPM 5400rpm

not bad, wouldn't buy anything from this company personally

Just ordered one earlier...

Why wouldn't you order from this company??

Nice, I like the look it. I assume Sashicee's had a bad experience with them. Not had any problems myself with CD Discount but never had cause to return anything or deal with Customer Services. As with all places, YMMV.

Please make it clear in the title that the voucher is for new customers only so that you don’t waste the time of people that already have an account. :x

500gb doesn't have 2.5" 5400rpm due to the form factor

i have just brought my first items from these and received it today , fairly prompt delivery but OMG i was very shocked as they have sent my new shiny 1.5tb Samsung hard drive in a static bag and a skinny jiffy bag no box nothing! im a little concerned that it has been protected sufficiently. can any tell me if they recommend me using it or should i return for an exchange? as after phoning today they told me all hard drives are sent boxed? just my luck they ran out of boxes on my order then.

I havent opened the static bag yet.

form factor what do u mean

is the new customers voucher "NEW CUSTOMERS" ?

Probably not relevant ( as someone will no doubt point out ) but I have the 320gb version of this. It contains a Hitachi drive. It has a weird cable with 2 USB connectors on the one end which the manual says to use if it doesn't work with just the one. Strange. It works fine on 3 of my PC's, a Shuttle, a Acer Netbook ( thanks HUKD ) and a Opteron oc'd machine fine but it has lots of problem with my brother's home made Intel rig for some reason. Delayed write failure all the time. If it happened on my machine I'd be annoyed but since it doesn't and it works just fine I'd recommend them to anyone.

Reminds me of that Nationwide advert

"Nope, new customers only"

lol, nice deal though and liek others have said you can make a new account. But then it would be nice if I could use my £20 of account credit..

what voucher code do i use to get £15 off and is there a minimum spend and whens it valid till

For anyone who has one, what brand drive is inside? And is the case easy to open?
Looking to install it in a laptop if suitable.
Thanks in advance.

It might just be a Hitachi as in the smaller capacity one I have that I mentioned earlier.

Bargain considering the 320 gb drive from tesco is a good deal too.

Nothing wrong with Cdiscount i use them regularly with zero problems whatsoever.

The usb lead with 2 usb male ends is a common lead , quite a few of the 2.5" drives ive had have used that lead although so far none have needed the second port , everyone has worked with just a single usb port , i think its just in case.

I expect this doesn't have a power switch?

Does anyone know of a 2.5" external drive or enclosure (SATA) that does have a power switch?

(There's the Icy Box IB-250U-B but it's ugly compared to the likes of the WD Passport)

Any thoughts as to how easy it might be to remove the hard drive from the case (any visible screws etc). thanks
