Down from £300 to £130 I picked this up today with a LG49SJ810V and the sounds helps take it to another level! and at less than half price is a great bargain

This soundbar is a Which? Don’t buy. Also, as far as I can see its price has never been anywhere near 300.

What do you mean it says soundbar?

For those that want a sub £100 sound bar with wireless subwoofer there is the LG SJ2 at John Lewis for £99.

Is it any good?

mmm... this or Samsung 450 (also from Currys)

Anyone paired this (or another LG soundbar) with an Echo or Echo Dot successfully with bluetooth? Debating soundbar & Dot vs. Echo/Echo plus for better music quality than the Dot gives, but I've had issues with the Dot losing connection when paired to my BT speakers and don't want to find myself in that situation with a new soundbar.

LG sound bars seem to be fairly decent. I bough the £99 one as its for the mother in law. I havent collected it yet.

Does this sound bar have the option to add extra speakers ? The samsung deal had the option to extend to 4.1 for an extra £100.

This is not the same one the don't buy on which is the sh4 this is an updated model as far as I'm aware the sh4d and if you go on there website they did have it priced at £300 bit now £129 I must say the sound is fantastic and if it is a which don't buy then they must have had a different one to me as the sound is great goes very very loud without and distortion in the sound

Are you sure SH4D Doesn't mean it's a DixonsCarphone specific model number?

Is it available anywhere else? This could just be a revised model name to stop people being able to directly compare and to stop them having to price match. Happens all the time.

To be fair im not or would not say for sure but I can only go with what I heard with my own ears when I rigged it up last night and even the Mrs was even impressed with how it sounded. Is it worth £300 or possibly even £200 I don't know but for the £129 I paid I'm more than delighted with how it sounds.

Just enough time for a big reduction for Black Friday. Don’t be fooled, this is priced at what it should be.

This or the samsung one posted not long ago for £150?

I don't really care mate what it was before I care that I paid £129 which is quite cheap for a very good soundbar and woofer I just played some music there and it's great

I have not heard the Samsung one so can't comment but the LG one sounds pretty good to me and I certainly don't think the average person would disagree well worth the £129 if you ask me

A quick google confirms this. Top result is Currys and a bunch of LG pages, and pages linking to this deal. It's never been genuinely sold for £300 and looks identical to the SH4. SH4D is a rebranding for Currys to avoid price-matching and to add an inflated 'RRP' price tag.

The SH4 was reviewed by Which, which shows the current lowest price as £159, so this is a £30 saving at best.

An important reminder, if ever it was needed, to look at the absolute value you are getting for your money. Ignore the claims of savings - companies spend months in preparation to manipulate the prices, to make it appear like you're saving hundreds. Not knocking OP specifically for this, mind.

Well considering this is a deal site, other people may care. No one is taking away the fact you like the product but this doesn't seem to be a 'hot' uk deal and it was reviewed by Which at £160 and scored 54 out of 100 with a review stating it has a 'terrible sound'.

Well I only went with what they had advertised at the time and I have a which subscription myself and they are not the be all and end all when it comes to reviews. I have rigged it up and to me it sounds fantastic and know where near as bad as they have rated it. The end of the day everyone has there own cash to spend and as I said earlier I think it's sounds fantastic for the money if other people don't then that is there choice happy days but I'm personally delighted with how this sounds.

I think your better off with the samsung as it has more conections and has a lot more reviews to go on.
Two recesses on the bottom house a decent range of sockets.

Most notable are the HDMI input and output, which let you pass through 4K and 3D pictures from a Blu-ray deck, dropping off Dolby Digital or DTS signals along the way (the HW-K450 has built-in decoders for both).

It also has the usual optical and 3.5mm analogue inputs, plus a USB port that lets you play media from flash drives (most likely portable hard drives too:))

Always vary of this when places like Currys claim big discounts.

Ok guys , don’t be filled by the £299 retail price point.
This Soundbar has been sold in the US since mid 2016 as the SH4 for around $200.
Dixons have obviously done an exclusive on this model with LG and did what’s called ‘price establishment’ in the industry by advertising and retailing it for at least 28 days at the hyper inflated price of £299.

In reality it’s a year old model that has been selling at around £180 in the States and Dixon’s are getting it at a discount to go out at £119.

£119 is still a good price but not quite the bargain they want you to believe it is.

Having said that I have reserved one which I will pick up tomorrow and try out....

Can anyone confirm if this is any good then?
As its either this LG SH4D or the LG SJ4 as want a LG one to match the TV.
Its gone down to £119 now whereas the SJ4 is £179.

I went and got one of these on the basis I could return it if it was rubbish. I get that it isn’t a £180 saving, however, from what I can work out, it’s £119 online (£10 cheaper than in store) so I did click and collect.

It connects (with an optical cable) really easily. Pairs the sub itself and works with the Sky remote on my old LG TV. It has improved the sound quality no end.

It connected to my iPhone far easier than any other Bluetooth speaker I own and if I turn it up loud enough I think the windows rattle from the bass without the sound distorting!

For the money, I’m impressed. Thanks OP.

You don't need to get the brand to match the tv. They all work together these days (if it's HDMI arc) just find the best one for the price you want to pay.
I got a Philips soundbar a few years ago and it's amazing for the price. Like a lot of brands after the credit crisis. It's Chinese now. But the soundbar was a top buy at what hifi and I agree.

I don’t know what further information you need? End of the day do you trust some random person on here or professional reviews? It’s already been stated that professional reviews are not good on any of the LG soundbars

Mine came today. Tv is from 2012. Needs optical cable and this does not even come with one lol.
Works via Bluetooth with some devices i have and not others. Fine with a macbook, will not connect to a OnePlus3 and Minix Andriod Box.

Sound is ok, but if i could return for a full refund i would.

Definitely agree it was not worth the £300 but for around the £120 mark it is a good sounding bar and sub for that kind of money. Very happy with mine
