Great price but no HDMI connectivity at all, let alone ARC, means more fiddling about with remote controls :-(

Agreed, but for those functions you'll probably sacrifice the sound quality to a degree on a sub £100 bar.
Is ARC better than an optical connection?

HDMI ARC is digital, higher resolution than optical can handle and it's handy because it just works!

Brill. I've just bought a Philips 4k Ambilight. I have an xbox one s, sky Q box and a Sony home cinema. Its been a bit of a head melter figuring out the best combination of settings and connections to use that enables everything to work as it should

I wonder what is this compatibility they mention:
"LG Sound Bar comes with a remote but you can choose to use your own *TV remote as well. (*LG, Sony, Philips, Sharp, Panasonic, Vizio, Toshiba and Samsung brand remotes)."
Got this from amazon for £79 new a few months back

The manual mentions LG TVs with "LG Sound sync" whatever that it is! It also mentions some other brand TV remotes (that have learning function), although it also mentions they may not work well.
Well there is the power cable and optical cable to wire in but if you don't want the optic cable then you can use Bluetooth on it.

Personally I prefer the optical cable compared to Bluetooth as it is slightly better audio.

Overall I like this soundbar. It is decent and with the bass gives it that extra kick.

Improvement over tv audio? I own an LG OLED B7 but was looking for something that would sound better. I live in an apartment on the ground floor and the walls resist a lot of noise, so not looking for a cinema experience, just something with a little bass and clear vocals whilst I watch Netflix etc

Yes I would say a lot clearer than the TV sound. The bass definitely has a kick compared to the TV so would recommend.
, is the sub wireless or you need to run a wire from main speaker to sub?
