Bring the cinema home

Make no mistake, the LG SL8YG 3.1.2 Wireless Sound Bar is powerful. LG have worked with audio-experts Meridian to create a sound bar that brings a touch of Hollywood to your living room. With Dolby Atmos upfiring speakers and DTS:X 3D audio, you're placed right in the middle of the action.

Just place the wireless subwoofer by your sofa, and prepare to spend the entire movie on the edge of your seat.

Incredible sound, always

Hear new details you've never heard before. The LG SL8Y supports high-resolution audio, letting you hear those crisp highs and thunderous lows loud and clear. It'll even make standard resolution music sound better with upscaling, giving those old school hits a new lease of life.

And with 4K passthrough, you won't lose any quality when plugging in your Blu-ray player or games console. Fantastic audio, fantastic visuals, easy.

Make life easier with Google

No need to rely on the remote, just ask your sound bar. With Google Assistant built-in, you can ask your LG SL8Y to turn the volume up, pause the song, or play your chill-out playlist. You can even ask to hear your schedule or check the weather, so you're always prepared for the day.

And with Chromecast, listening to anything through your sound bar is just one click away. Log into YouTube or Spotify, hit the Chromecast button and relax.

I'm looking for a new sound bar to replace my old 5.1 Av receiver, currently I'm using Jamo speakers. Would anyone recommend this or another sound bar?
I have seen no reviews on this yet, but it's a good price if it can deliver the results.

Any reviews? How to get £100 off if you buy any tv
Just ordered this - really looking forward to getting my hands on it. Absolute bargain for the price, once you've sold the TV on. Decided to go for the 24" Logik, hopefully can get a little bit for that....
I added the 24 inch jvc...which I plan to sell. taking that into account it is a great deal
You should be able to return the TV and be refunded, so the soundbar will be £399
Just beware that this has issues playing Atmos content from the built in LG apps via HDMI.

Amazing soundbar though. Just shame about that niggle!

can you give me more detail on this?

So essentially you have two options when it's plugged into the TV, either PCM or Auto. Auto is necessary for Dolby Atmos, so I'm told and understand.

When Auto is selected, and Atmos content is played (although may actually be any content, I was just trying to fix the Atmos issue...) the soundbar just produces absolutely no noise at all and flickers with 'Movie' on the soundbar screen. It seems as though it is stuck in some kind of loop with picking up the content, very odd.

Selecting PCM and it works absolutely fine. This is all via ARC connection. Seems as though this has been a common problem with a few Atmos soundbars by LG - the 9 series from last year had a similar issue, so I expect it's a similar situation.

Shame as I love having the Google Assistant built in and ability to Chromecast, which most others don't have.

I'm planning to have another mess around over the next day or two but suspect I'm going to have to. Knocked my confidence in it a little bit.

I've just been looking around though and even without functioning Atmos, it's still a good price at (essentially) £399 if the TV can be returned.

I want to love it!
I will soon be hooking this up to a LG 55b8 screen and a virgin media tv box. I was hoping to get atmos out of the v6 box.

is this likely to be a problem

I think if you plug the Virgin box into the HDMI on the soundbar, you should be fine.

It seems to be via ARC, so you should be able to plug all of your equipment into the TV directly with the sound being output by a single HDMI cable. I use the built in apps and just find it bizarre that this doesn't work out of the box!
Its not the latest but not the oldest
I got this soundbar and found the same problem no Atmos, so ordered 4 premium Certified 18Gbps HDMI leads. Sunday I will re set all up again for another go.
Fingers crossed for the Atmos issue being sorted, because the overall performance of this soundbar is outstanding. Even without the Atoms working its easily one of the best sounding for movies & music.

any joy?
Also got this sound bar, now fully set up and also added the rear wireless speakers, must say am really impressed, for the price it probably one of the best out there!

Also found the issue with Atmos! had a good play around but it only happens when it is selected on "Movie" before the Atmos is detected.
Work around is to use any other setting like (Standard, base, ect) and Atmos kicks in no problem!

Let me know if it works for all of you!

I am sure this is a software issue with the Movie sound setting and should be easily fixed with a firmware update.
I will be contacting LG to let them know this week!

But will definitely be keeping it!

Yes, outstanding, and fully agree like mbosys says.

Just make sure you use a Premium Certified 18Gbps HDMI cable, as my HDMI was not up to spec.
I don't have the rear speakers yet, but this is the best soundbar I have tested and at £499 is unbelievable.
The cables I have used are from TVcables.co.uk, premium-certified-18gbps-hdmi-cable-1.8m-black £5.62 each.
Hope this is a help, enjoy
