LG Star Optimus 2X - dual core. The most powerful phone £469.99 @ Play

Offering up a dual core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor (the first phone to be released with such tech inside) the Android 2.2-toting monster is also packing a 4-inch WVGA screen.
Another first for the phone is the inclusion of 1080p video recording - previously handsets could only handle 720p capture, but presumably the upgraded processor has made it easier for the Optimus 2X to handle the procedure without bringing the phone to a grinding halt.

why would you want one? i like flash based web sites

Arm/Qualcomm are coming out with dual cores that will be much better, all new phones will be dual core. It’s not just about speed it's the support they will receive that will be important.

and the battery life

Nice phone but think I'll hold out until the Motorola Atrix is released.

the iphone is a locked down controlled bit of kit for iclones! android brings freedom. im undecided on what to get, but considering the market this is a HOT price for a bit of kit

Probably twice as fast in loosing its value as well. Try to sell this in 6months time and to sell an iphone 4 to see which one goes for more.

I am sorry to say but after having an iphone everything else stands no chance and on top of that the Iphone retains its value better than any other phone.

I've been there it happened to me with the Nokia N97 (which I bought on the day of release) and I ended up selling it before the end of the first year and only got around 30% or less of its original value.

PS: The phone looks nice. Uhmmm I wondered if this design was inspired by the Iphone 4 lol.

do you know anything? android has overtaken apple now.......

Apple Iphone = North Korea
Android = Somewhere in the free world

Nice looks, nice specs. Shame about the price.

Not released until the 18th March. The phone looks great, but remember it's the first dual core handset to be released in the UK, and runs 2.2 rather than the latest 2.3 release. I'm waiting for HTC to join the dual core party, hopefully by then we'll be looking at phone optimised Honeycomb build.

Dual

These 1500h batteries get a lot of ribbing on non dual cores so god knows how quickly it'll discharge on the Tegra Dual, I'm waiting for the battery technology to catch up.

Cracking phone posted by the OP, got drawn to it at the time of the CES in Arizona, I would love one tbh but not at that price, as already said it'll depreciate quickly with the flood of duals coming over the horizon.

Thats just me tho, for right here and now its a good deal, voted hot.

iPhone fanboys are pathetic. Go back to your "it's Apple's way or the jailbreak way" phones plzkthx.

completely agreed. better to wait for more dual core phones to be released.

Nvidia were claiming multiple cores actually reduced battery consumption.

wait until theres an android with hardware optimisation, theres no need for a dual cored if its not optimised for it, 6 months and itll be worth it. cold, itll be cheaper when its out properly.

Mmmmmm moooore poweeeeer coming......nom nom nom

I like freedom, I won't be dictated to by Apple as to what I can and cannot do with my property. I also like a phone that doesn't lose signal or the alarm won't work because of a new year.

'LG Star Optimus 2X - duel core. The most powerful phone'

errr......what are you going to do with it

....make phone calls lol

btw voted hot!! and didnt know android phones take music directly from pc so might be switching from my iphone

speed and supercomputer processing is no solution to the **** android market, what u going to put on it?, battery defenders/task killers?? and live wallpapers woohoo!, i like androids customization and general os but lack of apps makes them **** in my mind and i had a galaxy s for 8 months.

Apple users think _everything_ looks like an iPhone. Comedy.

Can i make phone calls with this?

Meh, the Motorola Atrix will literally have this thing for breakfast.

That being said, I'm not really a fan of Android, or the iPhone (ios), will wait come Feb 9th and see what HP has in store for us for webOS (imho the best mobile operating system out there, yet underrated), will be awesome and sure to blow everything else out of the competition for sure.

@tramp - there's loads of apps. And now you'll find most apps made for the iPhone market is also released on Android as more and more people pick up on it.

Task killers are crap though, most people don't actually understand what they do or how apps run on Android.

Android market has more apps than anyone needs. And no clued up android user uses a task killer. Android doesnt need task killers because it manages it apps great. It will kill off apps as it needs to. Apps sitting in memory do not use any extra battery life.

Unless..... it actually is twice as fast... (well ok very, very nearly)

I hope HTC improve the quality of their loudspeakers. So far the HTC Magic, Wildfire, Desire, Desire Z and Desire HD all suck in that department.

Without sounding like a **** I'd like to take the opportunity to say that your statement is false.

Any applications in memory, even idle, utilize CPU clock cycles which do ultimately have an effect (negligible or not) on battery life.

Using that logic all motorcyclists would buy harleys as they hold their value best - doesn't make them better does it? Can we end the iphone/android/windows war and comment on this deal.

samsung ace will run on android 2.3 gingerbread, hopefully faster due out march

How do you measure or quantify negligible, or were we talking about relevance to the deal?
