This does not support DV. Shouldn't be advertised as compatible.

I really dont get why anyone buys these. I mean if you can get an xbox one s for similar money... It does more. Even if your not a gamer why pay the same price for something that does less?

Trust me it doesn't. I have one.

They quickly withdrew the long awated FW update due to issues.

As I said, it shouldn't be described as compatible, by LG.

Thanks. That was the main reason I wanted this one. I'll hang off for a bit now.

LG will rerelease the firmware update once the issues have been resolved. This player has been under $150 in the US, so it might be worth waiting to see if the UK price drops down a bit (although the Guardians UHD BD offsets some of the higher price).

Can it be made region free for blu-rays?

I picked one up from Amazon Marketplace for cheap, was the most ridiculously loud player I've ever heard.

Likely not just an issue with it being pre-owned as it seems it's a common problem with any with a build date before August. Certainly worth a pop at this price as you'll have a warranty with LG and John Lewis are great for customer service, but don't expect it all to be plain sailing.

Additionally, as has been mentioned, the Dolby Vision firmware was withdrawn suddenly and LG aren't committing to when it'll be fixed and available.

As for region free, apparently it's possible to mod if you're handy with a soldering iron, the chip is about £40. The chip also allows you to upload the DV firmware.

So for me it's not hot nor cold, personally I don't think it's the best quality player but for the price it's 'ok'.
