G6 is based on last year CPU . Snapdragon 821. Snapdragon 835 is much better. In Feb S9 will will come with Snapdragon 845 hopefully and be available for sale by April .

I've been waiting for this phone. But then the price announcement brought me down a bit. I lost my G5 recently and saw this phone was coming out. I need that quad DAC.

This deal would be much better for me if I could trade minutes/texts in for data.

My only issue is that in America you can get the V30 on Verizon with a $200 gift card + Google Daydream headset included. I wish LG supported this promotion in the UK to make it more appealing

Was eagerly waiting for this.
Then saw the price and ordered Nokia 8 deal instead.
Very similar spec with 835 CPU.
Will do the job for less than half the price

The main reason someone will buy this phone is to utilize the excellent camera, probably the best on a phone atm, having full manual control and been able to shoot log format video.

To my eyes, its a better deal than an iphone or samsung one at the same price.

Is it such a big improvement over the V20? You can get the V20 for about £250.

I know there are a few improvements and upgrades, but I checked a few reviews, and some guys prefarred some of the V20 features that they have done away with now...

Tbh my lg5 performs exactly as fast as my s8 I don't think it makes much difference for ordinary folk

I think the Nokia 8 is still a great deal. If you can tweak the camera to be a bit better, it's probably the best bang for buck deal you can get at the moment >

Depends what you want out of the phone. If you want a killer music player I've heard the Nokia 8 is average while the V30 is amazing. But I do really like the Nokia 8, Nokia seem to be keeping their word regarding security patches and updates and jerryrigeverything on YouTube shows it's very solidly built. A cheaper way to get pixel level support!

One of the best things about the V30 is the built-in quad DAC. For those with high end IEMs like Sennheiser IE800, this is a great phone.
Not sure how much better (if any) it'll sound than the G5 I had with the B&O DAC. Would be nice if someone had a comparison of them.

I think the V20 has the DAC also

This is crazy money for an LG (the G5 was rubbish, but the G6 looks an improvement)... The CEX price for the G6 is £300, so paying this much for the quad DAC is crazy.

I got my G5 from O2 (O2 Refresh deal) and will never again - they take their time releasing firmware updates which LG release monthly.

If the G6 at CEX is the UK/EU version it doesn't have the quad DAC. Quad DAC really is worth it. Music sounds bliss with some decent cans.

Wait a bit. Post Christmas the price should drop significantly. LG phones seem to drop in price very quickly. Since Ive gone SIM only Ive done pretty well out of buying out right LGs flagship phones 9months plus after launch. Currently have a V20 imported from Hong Kong for less than £300.

I'd be wary of LG's reliability after bootloops on the G4, G5, V10.

really nice deal, only thing keeping me from getting a non samsung is I have quite a few apps on the gear vr and I'm not sure how well my gear s2 classic will work with a non samsung

£800 for any phone should be a NO.

Just get a Xiaomi Mi6 for around £300. It has the latest Snapdragon 835, top quality build and all you want from a flagship phone for half the price.

Yes it has a secruity feature and does get regular OTA updates. I'm actually typing off my Mi6 now. Don't think I'll ever go back to Samsung or any other brand apart from Xiaomi

MI6 does not have B20 band. Xiaomi deliberately made it not to sell in Europe where the B20 band is used. Instead you should have got Mi Mix 2 from Xiaomi which they made to sell abroad and has all the European bands.

Nokia 8 is much better option if it's a Snapdragon 835 you are after. Guaranteed stock android with fast updates. No dodgy Chinese imports, vat, customs issues. Proper UK warranty.

Each to thier own. I am absolutely more than satisfied with my Xiaomi Mi6 and I didn't pay any customs fee. The UK warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on! Plus the miui software it's absolutely amazing, better than stock android!

Fair enough, the Note 8, like most Samsung phones are fantastic when first released but just aren't supported long enough to justify the outlay. Not that I would spend £1000 on the iPhone X either. Both are terribly overpriced. I'm stuck between the iPhone 7 plus or waiting for a good deal on the S8.

Friend at work literally just got an LG v20 - first I've ever heard of them! I must say, really impressed with it and the camera is amazing. I have the Samsung S7 Edge and thought about getting rid of it for the V20.... then last night I read about the release of the V30 and if by magic here is a deal!
HOWEVER..... even I have to draw a line at the price sadly

I agree with the comments above though, I imagine (and secretly hope) the price will fall quite quickly so just hanging on for now. I love LG equipment but as far as phones go the iPhone and Samsungs will retain their value more so.

The LG V30 is the phone of the year. The LG V20 was 2016's phone of the year as well. IMHO of course.

* Only camera with a proper wide angle lens.
* I'm reserving judgement regarding the supposedly "fastest 1.6" lens when they moved to a smaller sensor
* Quad DAC
* HD Audio Recorder - "The RAM can record loud sounds clearly, so the LG V30 can record a wider dynamic range of sounds, from a whisper to a thunderstorm, without distortion,"
* The video camera. Oh the video camera. The only device that I know that can do 21:9 filming, with LOG, and those emulation presets as well. It's absolutely mental!
* IP68 rating, not IP67, that's some added oomph.
* Lighter than the rest of this years flagships

Okay, it sounds like I'm pretty much set on this. I am, BUT! There are a couple of niggles:

* It costs too much. For an LG. Sorry LG, but I really was expecting it to be not more than £699 (I know I'm being unfair here considering the feature set). So I will wait for that weird drop in price that most LG devices do in the first 3 months (especially this holiday season!).
* It does not come with anything else! I remember the LG V20 came with a 256GB MicroSD in the US when it was released!

At the moment, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. I used to have an Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra (yep, that 6.8" phone) and absolutely loved it, until eGlobalCentral told me it would take 6 months to "fix" the device (thank PayPal for the refund).

WHAT I REALLY WANT - An LG V30 with a 7" screen. That would be the perfect device for me.

For now, the S7 edge is still awesome. Anyone who has one, I recommend purchasing the lens case. The fact that Samsung stopped making the lens case from the S8 onwards was a major negative for me. I use the Ultra-Wide Angle (UWA) lens A LOT, and the portrait lens works really well, you could almost pull off a photo that has some bokeh looking like a DSLR lens at f/2.8 to f/3.5 (which is not bad).
