Lol! NW :). Scan is a very reputable company, so you'll have no problem with them.

However, before you buy, double check on the HDMI as I believe they are only v1.3a and not 1.4 which is required for 3D (via HDMI). You don't wanto to waste your money and later to find it doesn't work with your PS3.

This monitor doesn't work with PS3 in 3D - for 3d you need a compatible graphics card and the Nvidia kit

Thanks guys appreciate it. Just thought because it was 3d it would play without a problem, glad I didn't already buy it

so this monitor is only good for pc's and not ps3?

are any of the other more expensive 3d monitors ps3 compatible?

Don't be fooled by "1080" on a pc monitor. They've all been more than 1080 for a decade now. This is standard for a monitor.

Sorry for the noob question. Can these 3D display normal 2D too and does this need 3D glasses?

Thanks

nice i feel the spending urge coming on. Heat added

after looking thru some forums, it seems there isn't any monitors capable of being ps3 and pc compatible at the same time.

So gonna order this as it's a great price for a 120hz that will be the perfect size on my desk.

after all my pc will be better at displaying 3d than the ps3 anyways

Yes and yes.

You need the Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision Kit and an Nvidia graphics card capable of 3D:

Yeah they are supposed to give an even better 2d picture because of the 120hz meaning a more responsive image. after reading various reviews , most owners say once they go 120hz they find it very hard to go back to 60hz. Im hoping to find out tomorrow when mine is delivered

and yeah you will need the nvidia glasses, about £100 extra

Why is the today only page still showing 11/04 for me? I've tried a non-cache refresh and it's still the same.

Edit: Ah, I see, this is from the 11th. Not long left on this deal then!

They can display a normal 2D image yes.

To use these with 3D on a PC you will need the NVidia 3D Vision kit (which is basically 3D glasses / software) and an NVidia 3D Vision compatible graphics card as mentioned earlier.

Based on this NVidia requirements page, does that mean 3D Vision also needs HDMI 1.4 to work? nvidia.com/obj…tml

WRONG!!!

1080 refers to the smaller dimension, not the biggest one, 1,920 pixels wide by 1,080 high in other words. Many PC monitors still do not meet this even today, so the idea that monitors have been 1080 for a decade is utter nonsense. My £130 display from last year is not 1080 resolution.

Yeah, it normally changes about 15:00. I presumed this deal was from Today, but it is on the 11th page so it won't be up for long.

Please explain why or submit a link explaining why this won't work on PS3's, also do all 3d tvs have the same depth?

Not quite. 1.3 doesn't have enough bandwidth to do 2 x 1080p but does 720p fine as you know from PS3 which allows 3D.

I agree with the principle, it is just used as advertisement for people who don't have a clue what its on about. Monitors have already been 'HD' since it always processes to that resolution.

On TV, you have a picture which is set to a particular resolution which it is broadcast at and when the TV has got bigger it has just had to stretch it which is why your 15" CRT TV always looked brilliant.

So after looking at the nvidia page, does this mean it doesnt even work with their 3d glasses?

Wow, I'm utterly retarded.

Ignore me, I'm not with it.

Not necessarily, most 19" CRT monitors have supported 1280x1024 for a decade, 20" and bigger have actually supported higher native resolutions 1600x1200 (which is obviously more than 1080) and above, so it all depends on size really...

I generally agree it's just been branded onto monitors recently just to fool people that don't know what it means other than it's an 'HD' buzz word.

Anyway back on topic... nice price for a 120Hz monitor.

Erm the HD resolutions denote widescreen (1.77:1) aspect ratio. Therefore it needs to be 1920x1080 to be 1080p

Yes a 1280x1024 4:3 monitor can show 720P video but will be letterboxed or stretched....

Yeah, so long as you have an Nvidia 3D ready graphics card, 8800GTX and above are all compatible.

Just a note to OP that adding the size of the screen in the description might help those that don't know the model number also specifies the size.

Yeah, technically it was yesterdays deal.

The Nvidia 3D vision kit is on offer though

They have the 3d glasses on offer now for £98, thats more money on my credit card

And after looking into it, it seems the glasses work fine over DVI just not HDMI which shouldn't be a problem when combined with the LG

great ! lucky i waited

btw can i use this monitor with the Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision Kit & ATI 6850 ? i dont really like nvidia cards.

I said 1080 not 1080p as that's what belovedmonster had said, obviously I wasn't talking about wide screen :p. If we're going to be picky about it being larger than 1920 too then you used to be able to get monitors that would run up at 2560x2048... although not a decade ago maybe, a good 4/5 years.

I have this monitor, upgraded from a Samsung 2032bw. For me 23" ,120hz & and the full 1920x1080 was a the reason i bought it, 3D was a bonus to try out. I even went and purchased a Nvidia 3D vision kit which i tried but found that i didn't really like it, I have now returned that. Games i mainly play e.g Bad company 2, team fortress 2, Final fantasy XIV, WOW, all played better with 120hz.

Bit of a novice to all things 3D and PC gaming.

How much would a new compatible PC cost to go with this?

I also have an Xbox 360 and PS3. Would just be best punting on a main 3D tele?

Indeed. 1920x1080 monitors have been around for donkeys years and are pretty low res by today's standards. Decent PC monitors run upwards of 2500x1600 these days.

Hmm, I can't seem to find it on the site

Edit: Oh nevermind. It's just expired as I was looking

got mine today, its super amazing.glad i found this offer in time before crescentElectronics processed my order for philips led monitor so i was able to cancel it (had to do it by email) & order this very HOT monitor from good ol Scan.
