I believe this is the cheapest 30" display you can buy in the UK. Play.com claims it has an RRP of £1129.99, so this is a £260 saving. Just make sure your graphics card supports the enormous resolution!

I spent over £600 on a 21" CRT Sony CPD-G520 a while back. Probably couldn't get a tenner for it now. Tempting as this deal may be, never again!!! lol.

For most users who want a bit more display, two 24" widescreens put side-by-side using dual graphics output is probably a more cost effective and better option.

Voted hot though for those that have the money and are willing to splash it

Now by much though, this is an VA or IPS screen so you're looking at £400 for a similar 24" and by the time you've doubled that it's not much cheaper than this, and a 24" is 2.3 megapixels compared to the 4 megapixels of this display so it isn't as much extra space as you'd expect.

Graphics card isn't going to be an issue, even the £30 basic radeons and geforces support 2560x1600 on at least one DVI port (you need a mid-range card if you want two 30" screens). However, check to make sure on any intel chips, and you can't use an adapted HDMI connection since most won't output higher than 1920x1200ish.

Pricewise it's good but not a stunning deal, Pixmania has a Daewoo for £700 last year and I believe OcUK wsold off the last of the Hazros for £650ish. However, I'll give it some heat to balance the inevitable cold votes from people who think it's a TV.

Would it be cheaper to get a HD tv set, that could be used with a pc?

Not as good resolution most likely. Depends whether you want size (big massive text and icons) over more desktop area.

It would be cheaper yes, but if cost was your primary desire you'd be going for a 19" monitor. It wouldn't be an alternative to this since it's got barely half the resolution.

Its only got one dvi port :O .. but ips based model
