A very tempting price on a Google Assistant equipped smart speaker. I believe the RRP is around £249, which I know is super high, considering other options out there. We've seen it dropping in price in recent months to £199.99 to £149.99 and now it's £99 using the above code.

If you're wanting a smart speaker to integrate into your smart home system then this might be worth considering at this price. I haven't seen it anywhere near this cheap at all so far.

It's available for delivery or click & collect, both or which are free, apart from when you want weekend deliveries, which carry a a premium of £3.99-£5 - See below for specs

I think it looks great. It will fit in perfectly with my JVC minidisc player and Alba 12 CD changer
You should ask yourself what does this bring to the table that the Lenovo 8" doesn't for £58 - the answer not a lot.

" The company also claims that Smart Display boasts lower distortion and a wider sound field than its competitors. That’s all well and fine, and stereo is a welcome step up from the Home Hub and Lenovo Smart Display’s one-channel setups. But I found the sound reproduction to be lacking in places.

Voices come across as muffled, no matter the genre, as if the vocalists had recorded their tracks using cloth-covered microphones. The severity varies depending on the quality of the recording — it stands out more in Jimi Hendrix’s “All Along the Watchtower” than George Watsky’s “Strong as an Oak,” for example — but never goes away.

Vocals are cleaner and crisper on the Lenovo Smart Display’s two passive tweeters, as are brass sections (on the high end of the frequency spectrum). That said, I preferred the Xboom WK9’s treatment of string sections (in John Williams’ “Duel of the Fates,” for example) and its powerful, floor-thumping bass. The WK9 wipes the floor with the Lenovo Smart Display when it comes to drum and rhythm sections — anything low-frequency, basically. And given its namesake, that’s not surprising. "

Even without the Google Assistant, it makes for a very high quality Bluetooth and WiFi stereo speaker with 2 X 10 watts RMS
Looks ugly.

can you watch youtube videos on this without a smartphone?
Same functions as Lenovo smart display

Same functions as Lenovo smart display

But with 2 speakers and twice the price.
I've gone for it... 2 20W RMS speakers and the ability to Chromecast music & video directly to it, just deciding whether this belongs in my kitchen or my living room.
I couldn't resist it at this price.
They youtube reviews were pretty positive at its big retail price.

You ll find the sound would be immersely different between this and the Lenovo. I have the pk7 with meridian 2 x20w and sounds incredible. Where is Lenovo is very tiny and let's face it not really a boomblaster!

I was about to say exactly the same thing. These LG smart speakers are designed for quality music and audio, a department other smart speakers are pretty poor in.
Hi ,have a echo show 8 ,and it sound pretty good for what is ,I paid £60 ,I wonder how it would perform in comparison

I have the show 8 and love it. I think it really depends on what you want to use the device for. I'd love this as I like the design, but it's Google and the Google assistant can't do half the stuff I use daily. Such as it can't find any of the radio stations me and my wife listen to, I didn't have anywhere near as many skills as Alexa and I can't watch prime video on it.

How does it look ugly...? It looks like a regular mobile phone with a speaker either side. It looks pretty good tbh as the design is balanced.

What looks ugly and what doesn't is subjective. I just shared my opinion, I don't expect anyone to agree or disagree. If you like it, buy it and enjoy it.

Unfortunately for Lenovo, they designed their smart speakers around a feature that Google decided not to actually implement - choice of landscape or portrait orientation. (Duo does it on phones, so that works, but only that.) Result is that they have a clever but odd and ultimately pretty pointless product-design concept.
In comparison, this landscape-only thing with a speaker each side of the display, doesn't look lop-sided.
This might be the 'quietest' design for when the screen is off (you don't have to have a slideshow or whatever there all the time!)

The long Black Friday changed our price perception.
Today, a Google/Nest Hub (no camera) is selling for £120.
The Lenovo (which is a bit of an oddity and which I reckon they want to unload) apart, this actually is a pretty good deal.

Is there anything in particular that annoys you with Google Assistant?

A couple of years ago I replaced all my Echo Dots with Google Minis as they seemed to work so much better. But I'm guessing that Alexa has improved a lot as I've heard a lot of people say recently they prefer it to Google Assistant.
How would this compare sound quality wise to a Logitech Boom and would it be able to stream my local library from my Server?
Can you put apps on these yet? This would be a good as a bedside alarm clock, but for me the deal breaker would be not to have my IPTV apps on?
Bit it just so ugly

Sorry but I was asking specifically about the voice assistant

Yeah, and what OS do those apps require? What OS do you think this has? And Amazon Echos?
