Bought one the other night after searching the net for a LIGHTSCRIBE dvd writer - free delivery too. I was going to get an internal drive but this wasn't much more expensive than an OEM internal if you include the delivery so though it was worth the extra ££'s

I've seen these in PC World for £44.99 or £39.99 via their website as a collect in store

Info:

One review says it doesnt come with Lightscribe software, another says it does?

This just confirms my belief that dixons don't know squat and that their descriptions are typed by monkeys at keyboards... I could be wrong but it's very unlikely that this is in fact a PATA device, more likely a USB device as PATA drives are very rare outside of the casing, something to do with cable length too I believe.

[edit] yep I was correct, here's the info from a slightly more reputable source

I think they mean the drive is a PATA drive, not that the whole thing plugs onto a PATA header.

I've had one of these for ages. Nice drive. good price.
:¬}

I got a similar one, it is of good quality.

great find been looking for one of these

Excellent deal for people wanting to add an optical drive to their Acer Revo or similar device. Lightscribe is a good feature too!

Great - cheers!

Bought one of these 3 months ago, same price (VAT increase didn't effect it), it is quite bulky and to be honest quite slow considering the spec it promises. Cannot go wrong though for under £30. Does comes with S/W for everyones info, it is a full retail pack!

Calm yourself, as above, the PATA description is refering to the connection of the internal drive, specifying that it is a PATA drive, not an SATA drive inside the case. The dixons descriptions are almost certainly taken from the suppliers or manufacturers and not handtyped by anyone.

Very tempted with this. Would go nicely with the netbook

Don't forget 3% qiudco too

Heat and rep added - that lightscribe thing looks quality!

The K*obs still have not registered my quidco! Absolute joke! So do not expect to get anything from dixons.......

Thanks....just ordered...

I guess this is mains powered and not USB powered. There is a slim line USB powered lite on drive for same price at dixons but it's only a reader

out of stock but that was a really good price

Brilliant Drive.

just got mine today - it is external powered but not surprised - i'm sure you'd need quite a bit of power for one of these ;-) looks good - and i quite like the bulkiness of it, it feels very well built.

came with nero express software with lightscribe support ;-) hope a few of you got one before they ran out! - hopefully they will get more in at this price too!

Had a lg external drive for well over a year excellent never had a coaster and burn fairly often can't say the same for my laptop drive would defo recomend i bought mine from pc world for 50 so this is a bargain never used the lightscribe so can't comment on that.
