Been watching this TV for a while and it finally dipped to my budget the other day so decided to try my luck and ask JohnLewis to pricematch.

Recieved an email saying theyd be happy to match ElectricalExperience which is great because now I have a 5 year warranty too!

You did well because they don't usually give 5 year warranty unless the comparator gives 5 years free...although this was my experience in May
Cracking price, have some heat
looks like it was cheaper at RSVP a few months ago

m.hotukdeals.com/dea…rue

still decent price
Awesome price, amazing tv! just remember it doesnt have wireless built in
Hot, got the 47" and it's a great tv.
Put in my price-match request...watch this space!

Happy to help! I get mine on thursday
Nice price, thanks for sharing. Heat added.
Mine's coming Tuesday, just a shame they don't charge you the lower price in the first place instead of taking your money and then refunding it to you, I bet that interest adds up!
How long does it usually take John Lewis to confirm they will price match? I put in a request yesterday at 11am but haven't heard anything yet. Don't want to order until I get it confirmed as otherwise may as well order from ElectricalExperiance.co,uk (would prefer to get it from JL but not at their normal price)
Usually within 24 hours they say.
Responded to me within 24hrs, although I got a confirmation email almost immediately...
I got the automated reply immediately but nothing since. It's now been 47 hours
what do you say about Electrical Experience warrant in request to JL?

what do you say about Electrical Experience warrant in request to JL?
I left it blank as it didnt seem relevant as JL don't give you the option of a 1year on TV's. it's a free bonus they offer
I wrote "free delivery and free 1yr warranty" IIRC
Dont mention the warranty, just write "Free Delivery". Thats what i did and mine was delivered today. :

Also, dont forget £50 worth of AceTrax credit when you register your TV with LG.
Looks like its no longer available from Electrical Experience, thanks MrKez, you saved me (or cost me!) a lot of money...roll on Tuesday!:D
Ok now I'm annoyed. Was looking at getting this TV and was tempted by Electrical Experiance price but I prefer dealing with big chains rather than independant retailers unless the indie is local so JLwas ideal.

They however still haven't responded to my Price Match sent at 11am Tuesday and put another one in yesterday morning both receiving the auto emails saying it would get a responce in 24 hours yet nothing. Also hounded their twitter account and they had me email them my claim details but still no luck. Now They will almost certainly reject the price match and I can't even get it at Electrical Experiance.

Great tactic by JL, ignore most of the price match requests until the price either goes up or the item goes out of stock so you can reject it and still claim to not be undersold

if anyone else has placed a price check before Thursday and didnt hear back then I would suggest raising the issue with their customer service twitter account.

Seems for some reason the emails they sent me responding to my request didn't arrive but they had i fact price matched so perhaps its the same with others.

So I have now ordered and its being delivered Thursday. Thanks MrKez
Still in stock at the price quoted in the OP, cheapest around by £70, might see if Amazon will price match?

Very tempted
Hmm..

"Price Matching
Amazon.co.uk does not price-match with other retailers (including third-party sellers who sell their items on our website). We do, however, consistently work toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry."

Let me know how that goes.

I've tried JL like the posters before me - I'll let you know how that goes.
Put in a price match last Thursday through the Sheffield store over the phone, they gave me a reference number. Gentle reminder call this morning to see how it was going and bingo within minutes i got a call back and price matched, delivery on Friday.

Thanks to the OP for this

I sent my request to JL last yesterday evening and via their website. They sent me an email this evening to confim that they were happy to match the price.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to pick one up from the Sheffield store but i've also been able to arrange for delivery on Friday the 23rd Nov.

Nice deal. I'm waiting for the Panasonic tx-l42et5b price to drop.
I'm waiting to see if the 47" version of this drops a bit more yet as RGB are currently selling at £679.00 and missed the amazon deal the other week at £639.95 & would like JL to price match with the free 5 year warranty

Anyone know why all the TV's seem to have gone up in price?, due to xmas sales around the corner perhaps?
Edited by: "karlypants" 20th Nov 2012
@ Karlypants

I seem to have got that feeling too. Even though LG 42" has been matched a £518.88 It was cheaper at £499 not so long ago!

Its probably so when we do get the Xmas/January sales they wont lose out so much on their margins!

TV's are definetly going up - I've been watching several and they've all gone up by £30-£50 in the last week.
Come January watch them fall in price for the 'sales'...

Got an email saying "we don't price match" but they have forwarded it onto the "relevant department". I have got them to reduce a price before, a few years ago though, but I didn't ask them to price match, just to review their prices in light of the other offer.

Watch this space.......
Don't watch this space, they have put the price UP by £60! Someone better tell Amazon that's not the way it is supposed to workoO
How long is the price match valid for ?.
28 days.
Really need the Panasonic tx-l42et5b to go down in price by the next 2 weeks I need to but it but don't want to pay current price. Hope it does
