Lichfield Ainsdale 4 man Tent 2000HH £34.99 @ Argos

Found 9th May 2013
Been looking for a good cheap tent for the odd camping holiday for me and the missus. She likes lots of space so wanted a 3 berth minimum. This seems a really good price for a decent brand and high hydrostatic head count (more waterproof). Not available for home delivery but they had stock near my Argos which is five minutes away so saves postage fees anyway.

RRP is £79.99 so it's 'less than half price' but I don't think you'd realistically pay much more than £50 for it, still, a good saving.

Details:
4 person family tent.
Pitch time 10 mins.
1 room, 4 air vents with separate groundsheet.
Hydrostatic head 2000mm - the higher the figure, the more waterproof the tent.
Fire retardant, double skinned tent - less prone to condensation with taped seams.
Bedroom 1 size H180, W240, L140cm.
General information:

Pitched size H180, W250, L360cm.
Packed size L65, W20cm.
Packed weight 4.6kg.

Hope this helps someone

Outer pitch first, almost standing height (for me) and 2000HH........ not bad at all.
Also I have a Lichfied tent currently and the quality is very good. Tempted to buy this myself, even though I already have 3 tents.

Heat added.

Yeah seemed to tick a lot of the boxes for me as well.

Sportsdirect were selling the Lichfield Strathy for £69 (and this one looks identical but for the fact that the Strathy is green) so this is an excellent deal if you can find one instore

Stock left in Hinckley and mkt.harb......the nearest near me......

Decided to go for this..... but annoyingly its OOS anywhere near me.

Just picked mine up from the Old Street store (London). They had 1 left there.

Reserved at Guildford, seems a few stores around here have 1 or two in stock.

same, got one in basingstoke....

A good buy, have some heat.

Just reserved one for pick up tomorrow, but Argos item description states 1500 HH and not 2000 as previous posts mention.

this is vango's budget line so pretty good pedigree!

Good price, pity there's none in stock within 50 miles of my address!

one left in penrith if you are quick

1500 HH will only do you for a light summer shower, but if its heavy, this will prob let water in. Also, ground sheet not sewn in, expect creepy crawlies in your tent! However!! For the price, and a quick weekend away, well worth it.

Groundsheet is sewn in.... its sewn to the mesh inner skin, so as long as the mesh door on the inner skin is zipped up no bugs can get in.
Admittedly, 1500HH is not that good.

Argos must have corrected their original listed spec..... I'm sure it said 2000HH on the Argos site when this deal was posted.

Have found one & reserved....but also noticed argos have lots of tents on sale (is this really the best??)

I got one yesterday after reading the reviews on Amazon. I was gonna get a proline one but the reviews said they got wet and were awful, this one had good reviews.

Why would you want 4 men in a tent? That was the question that puzzled me for sometime, then I watched Brokeback Mountain and at least I have some form of answer to my question.

The UK summer is coming so if anyone is fancying doing some tenting (I think that's the scientific name) you can practice now by sleeping in a river.

Buying my first tent, does it matter this has a separate groundsheet, or would i be better off getting one with a sewn in groundsheet. Just wondering is having a separate ground sheet just lets all the bugs in through the bottom.

Sewn in groudsheet (usually abbreviated to SIG) means less draughts and less insects but it means you have to pack your tent with a damp groundsheet whereas if the groundsheet can be removed then it can be more easily cleaned and packed seperately to the tent........most people tend to go with a SIG and buy a footprint (a sort of made to measure tarpaulin) to protect the groundsheet.

Sorry missed the bit about the groundsheet, much better if they are.

My tent survived the awful weather we had yesterday, winner!
