Picked up a few packs of the Lidl 'XXL' 1kg Chicken Breast Fillets today at the Sowerby Bridge store. Not sure if it's national, or how long the deal's on for, but £5.99 a kilo is cheeeeeep!

Cool, where do you live?

I will travel half way across uk to your butchers shop

Not fresh, but 3 kilos for £10 at Farmfoods suits me fine every week. If fresh is around £4-£4.50 at any local butcher to me, I will defo make the change. Must check some local butchers.

Have all the nutters descended into hotukdeals?

The original poster posts about a very good deal for fresh chicken breast. Probably the cheapest I have seen at a supermarket in the last two years. And then some one responds that he can get a full chicken for £3.50 at his local butcher.

What has the price of a full chicken got to do with the price of a kg of chicken breast? It is incomparable. Chicken breast is the premium meat of the chicken and is priced ordinarily between £7.50 and £10.00 a kg.

And someone else tried to compare it to frozen stuff that's pumped full of water

Hopefully those who know their chicken will benefit from this deal, I've always found it to be really good quality and as you say. £5.99 's as cheap as it gets.

100Hz?

Only £5 a kg at my local butcher

But good deal for supermarket prices. So heat added

It's lidl. You may as well eat a dogs leg since that's what it's probably made out of.

I get 5kg frozen chicken breast for £20.50.

Good price and good chicken. Bought 2 yesterday. Heat added

Makro was around £19 for 5kg in vacuum pack probably still is.

tuna in lidl is cheap and on offer atm. good source of protein!

Cold, my dad can get 10kg for £10 from his work when they go on special like once a year.

This is a good deal despite the nobheads.

I can get 17kg for 5 quid from the bloke round the corner with a limp and a twitchy eye

Is your local butcher a Halal butcher?Never seen it anywhere near that price.
£6.79 a kilo locally for me.

I always buy mine from the cheap chirpy chicken company 20kg for £3

£5.25 a kilo from my local butcher!

Have some heat though this isn't a bad price.

Cold, I can get a pound of sausages from my local butcher for a fiver and I can get 1/4 of cherry drops for 99p from the sweet shop round the corner

Voted hot! Nobody should eat it raw!

ffs have a little respect trolling gits, not really nice for people. to go down the wrong track taking focus away from the origional post. ...... heat added

Like someone else has said I always buy my chicken from makro as you get 5kg of fresh, Grade A chicken for £20 or £19 if you don't mind it vacuum packed.

I pay £2.50 a kilo from work. One of the very small perks of being an Electrician in a chicken factory.

Decent supermarket price though.

This is cheap but it's not the cheapest. 375g at aldi is £2.19 at the moment, making it £5.84 per kg.

Not cheap at all. 18.50 for 5kg from most wholesaler or cash and carry.

Local butcher sell the packs for £23

Cold for me

£4 a kilo in aldi and heron
I prefer the heron stuff

Been that price for around 2 years op

Frozen

Why is frozen chicken breast cheaper?

I can get it for £3.50 from a backstreet butcher who's never been inspected, is riddled with cockroaches and pumps then full of dextrose.

Great deal OP, ignore the morons who litter these threads.

The Makro chicken in the catering packs have added water, these don't, so different product.

It's not 4.00 in aldi it's like 7 per kilo.

Good deal, but you can also get frozen chicken breast Sainsbury's 750g for £3.32 = £4.43 per Kilo. Although it does often drop to 2.99 a bag.

Cold, £4 at Costco and Makro

Rudess

Cold, £4 at Costco and Makro

For most people here it take £££ in petrol to get to a Makro or Costco so they are expensive.

Not my problem, you also spend money to go to your local supermarket to make weekly shopping. This deal is cold as ice.

Canada 16 the post id about fresh chicken not frozen
frozen is £4 a kilo
in aldi and heron

It's not 4.00 per kilo in costco either even the frozen stuff. I shop there every week.
Not sure why everyone is comparing frozen to fresh. Can anyone show a deal that is better than this in a local supermarket?

is this chicken halal?
