Posted 14th Sep 2019Available: National, South East, South, South West, London, East of England, West Midlands, East Midlands, Yorkshire & Lincolnshire, North West, North East, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

2 crates of 12 x 440ml Cans of Lowenbrau Beer. Alone per crate is 8.99 which isn't bad but 2 for 12£ is a steal! Finding it might be a bit hard but nonetheless deal of the century for Lowenbrau or German beer lovers.

Available across all Lidl I'd assume. Seen this in two or three near me.

NOTE : Think this also applies to old speckled hen. That's quite a good price again. Same size.

Not brewed in Germany.

3.5%.

Has marginally more taste than tap water.

Agreed. It's InBev brewed pish.

Proper Lowenbrau is 5,4%

This is Coors Light/Bud Light/Hofmeister stuff. Awful.

Carlsberg is better.
I voted hot but didn't realise it was only 3.5%. What a load of pish. Used to drink the imported version of this ages ago and it was lovely stuff but couldn't have more than four pints or you turned into a beerwolf.
Ummmm. 16 pints for £12. Takes me back to 1988. Up north obviously. Can't buy a bag of pork scratchings down south for that.

Good deal. Thank you. Hot!

OK doesn't compare to that of San Miguel or something but still not bad.

San Miguel. Brewed by Carlsberg in the UK. At least, the vast majority of it sold in the UK will be.

Can you please go and read up on what "provenance" is, and why it's important? Perhaps you will then understand the hatred towards impostors such as this "Lowenbrau" crud.
Stay clear you have been warned.

I am well aware of provenance thank you. Very few beers that are international taste the same when brewed here. Nothing tastes the same once you've been to Oktoberfest and tasted it in the brewers tent. Yes it's not authentic Lowenbrau taste but Heineken tastes like shit here, amstel and most of the US beers too. Unless you go to Brew Dog or a proper brew pub where they have imported stuff it never tastes the same. But still for price it's not bad. Its refreshing on a hot day after work so still gets my vote. Not to everyone's liking

Not so much defending my deal for the sake of it. Happy to take criticism. At the end of the day YES this isn't the original German born German Brewed freshly imported from Lowenbraü beer BUT its better than some of the other Pißwasser we have on our shelves!

Brewdog is not 'proper'. That is the ultimate racket when it comes to beer.

But I know what you're getting at
Who would drink this? Not me. I always thought highly of German beer and this brand but when I saw this in Lidl I was disappointed. Becks Vier was pushing things a bit.
At 50p a can you can't go so it's, only 3.5 so just drink more of it
I'm sitting here with my cup of tea wondering what a beer wolf is !! Mind you, I think I can hear a few of them howling outside!
Up north we call this shandy...
Ideal for the 'can in hand' local that spends all day just doing that..
So much pish "German" beer on supermarket shelves now. What really saddens me is the German brands that are now brewed not with malt hops yeast and water as it should be but with glucose syrup etc. UK Beck's a disgrace, presumably this 3.5% Lowenbrau is the same. German beer is great because of the 1516 purity law.
I was in lidl today and didn't spot any... The Innis and Gunn is my favourite at the moment.

Yeah Brewdog is overrated overpriced shit tbh. The odd guest ale they have in or guest ipa might be worth it but normally in their pubs something like 5.80/6£ + a pint I'll swerve that! Sometimes even the same for 1/3 pint. F*** that!

Agree with the sentiment, it's like that episode of the Simpsons in the Duff beer factory where the same tank fills up duff/duff lite/duff premium etc just different labels put on.

don't get the reference to shepherd neame though, they are medium size independent UK brewer I believe. Not on the scale of your carlsberg, in bev etc multinational mega brewer.

Yeah, and the kicker is they brew that £5-6 pint and it's stil that expensive.

Plus they sold out to a private equity house. Very 'punk'.

A lot of the aldi/ lidl largers all taste the same to me... keep trying different stuff but aways prefer stella...

But it just meks thee p1ss more.... quality.. not quantity
If brewed in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot, not a bad deal. I was under the impression that Lowenbrau, like many German beers, was was around 5%? This stuff seems like an insult to the brand.

I've seen these in Lidl "special" section for over a month locally. Better if they fill the shelf with Franziskaner or something...

Not sure about that. In 1988 Royal Standard 3.5% was 30p a can in my local Spar. So £7.20 for 16 pints back then. Maybe 1998 for me.
Didn’t realise there’s as many beer snobs as there are for wine snobs; must remember to stick my little pinky out when I have my next pint.:{ or do you all need the higher alcohol level before you stagger home to your wives?

I've read a lot of not-flattering stuff about Brewdog but when their Mr Presidents (9.2%) are on offer, I do stock up!
Used to love a pils and lime served in an oversized half glass back in the day. Lowenbrau, Holsten and another cant remember the name in a black bottle with red foil.
I don't get the hatred for brewdog . Yeah they have become huge and sold a percentage and become millionaires .. That's life .
But to put brewdog stuff , Elvis juice , mr president and yes even punk in the same ball park as fosters, John smiths, coors, carlsberg etc is simply wrong . The bland europish and atrocious John smiths are mind bogglingly bad and made to fill supermarket shelves up as cheap as possible . Brewdog is more expensive , but you can get a pint of punk for around £3 oop north in Spoons and Elvis juice in cans for £2.50 ish ..
Brewdog moved the goalposts in the early days and inspired many craft independents , giving a choice over the wastelands of fosters, coors, John smiths , carling selling pubs which are closing at 20 a day or so

It is from Viz's profanosaurus and is:

Someone who wakes up in unfamiliar surroundings with torn clothes, aching limbs, the taste of blood in their mouth and suffering from nightmare flashbacks to terrible events that occurred the previous evening.

Pitched at mug buyers
This used to be my favourite back in the 80s ,saw this in Lidl a few weeks ago and was waiting at checkout and suddenly noticed 3.5% quickly left it and walked out,all the ex good lagers are now rubbish and they all seem to taste the same like pi##, would not drink them for free, all I drink now is peroni or polish beers(proper imported stuff from polish shop)not supermarket rubbish. It is very sad when I struggle to buy a decent lager in the 80s and 90s used to drink Holstein pills 6%,Stella 5.4%,lowenbre 5.4% and many more.RIP LAGER.
