Lidl clipless cycling shoes half price, plus other cycling clothing

Bought two pairs of these six months ago when they were twice the price and still great value then. They've served me well so far - well-made and I have no complaints. In fact I've only used the one pair because I only have one set of cleats, and the other pair hasn't fallen apart despite 100 miles a week of use.

They've also got "winter cycling gloves" for £3.99 (will be good enough for chilly mornings but not midwinter methinks), jackets for £12.99 and tops for £5.99.

NB like all Lidl deals, this is likely to be regional, so check the site first.

This may be store specific - I was in my Lidl last night and the shoes weren't reduced yet.....

100 miles a week is some good going

Yeah - I suffer for my art, or something. Will be moving base early next year which will cut that by about 20% and not involve a 600' climb either!

Decent quality and BARGAIN price.... get some Shimano M520's to go with them and you're on to a winner.

Bargain price... I too do around 100 miles a week in the shoes I bought last year from Lidl and they are still going strong. I use them in conjunction with Egg Beaters.

Alex.

Cycling shoes?

I just cycle in my normal shoes, works for me.

You could be surprised at what a difference proper cycling shoes make, especially if your shoes have flexible soles. Better transfer of your energy to the pedal, keeps your foot in place on the pedal without the need for fiddly clips and straps, and prevents your foot sliding off and spinning the pedal round and hitting your shin!!

Yep i got some similar for £19 and they are good shoes comfy, breathable, fit well and have good grip when you need to get off and push (or fall off) ha ha! voted hot good price for quality shoes.

Voted hot! If I get the M520's what else do I need, a set of cleats? Can you recommend any? Will I be able to walk 'normally' in these with cleats fitted etc? Thanx!

The cleats come with the pedals. You should be looking to pay around £18 - £19 for the M520s, e.g. at Ribble or Chain Reaction.

You can walk normally in these shoes with cleats fitted. The cleats make a bit of noise and can be a bit slippery on some surfaces, but nothing major.

Your title is a bit misleading "now half price" - it should say half price from 1st Oct

And put it in the OP....otherwise members (including me) will be round to their local Lidl to check if they have any.....

Out of interest I thought these reductions were store specific? does that mean the stores are instructed to reduce their prices on a specific date?

600 ft, whats that in metres?

I've got 1 year old sidis, do on average about 20 miles per week in the summer, very little in the winter, and the shoes are fraying at the outer seams on both feet. Is that poor technique more than poor quality? I do a lot of climbing in them though.

this store specific?

specials from 1/10 on mine doesnt include any cycling stuf...

The shoes don't actually cover 100 miles. There stuck on the pedels barely moving. Id hope they'd hold out under such extreme use!

Good deal all the same.

They're not store specific but they are possibly specific to region. I used to religiously state on Lidl deals that you should check with the website that it was available in your region, but no-one else did, so I stopped bothering.

The soles don't touch the ground but the rest of the shoe experiences wear just as if you were using it to walk with. And remember, these are cheap - you'd be surprised how badly you can make things if you try hard enough.

Hmm...

I do a lot of climbing in them though.

Then I would hope you would be able to convert feet to metres.

The cleats come with the pedals.

I've been idly looking around for a set on their own as I bought two pairs of shoes, but haven't seen anything that isn't nearly as expensive as buying the pedals as well.

Just search ebay for "Shimano SM-SH51 cleats"

Thanks - I guess I have a downer on them as ]the whole set of pedals including the cleats was only £16 back in Feb (and I was buying other stuff so the £5 P&P was spread) and it seems you can't get the cleats on their own for less than about £10 even though there's not much to them! Suppose I'll have to keep sniping on auctions.

I can't find them on the site. Have you got a link?

What he actually wrote was 600'. The ' symbol represents feet, so in fact he did make it clear.

It's obviously another one of their regional deals then. I've updated the description.

It was a special a week or so ago. Once they have been on sale for several weeks they reduce the remaining items to clear them. These won't be reduced until the 1st of October.........

Get a life ffs, you went back to check. Since when did an apostrophe represent feet? Sorry for being young and not fluent in ancient measurement speak

The M520 pedals and cleats are still only £18.40 at Ribble if you spend over £50 and delivery is free, so that's still a pretty good deal. No doubt though, if you buy the cleats by themselves, you get ripped off. One way round this is to buy some spd pedal adapters for about £6.00 to make one side flat.

]http//ww…52/

That way you can still get use from the pedals when your cleats wear out.

The ' has indicated feet for about the same time that the " has indicated inches

Bought shoes and other cycling stuff this morning. Visited 4 local Lidls. One had nowt, the others different combinations of items.

This is what I found:

Cycling tops £5.99*
Cycling jackets £12.99
Cycling tights (ladies only)
Cycling shoes £9.99*
Cycling gloves £3.99*
Cycle wall bracket £8.99*

* Purchased

Clothing in white/yellow/red/blue colourways. Getting a particular colourwayin the right size may mean a short cycle tour!

BTW did some posts above just disappear?

Got couple of tops and jackets yesterday. Good quality, especially jackets seem to be what I need for winter commuting in London.

I tried it this morning (8° C) and it was a bit too much (or maybe it was me being late to work?) but for the price it is a bargain.

Tops looks much better than those from 2-3 months ago (fabric is much nicer) but I haven’t tried yet.

For £70 I got 3 winter jackets and 5 cycling tops –normally that’s the cost of one jacket in bike shop.

Re shoes - I bought them before for 15.99 but they are just a spare pair - I'm using my old Specialized. Shoes may be 9.99 but you need to remember about cleats (I paid £11 inc shipping for this small piece of metal - ebay, SPD M520)

In general, once again great deal for people who can't afford cycling dressed all in gore-tex.

All this interest and still only 46 degrees - strange.

I just bought some cleats off eBay for £8 inc.
