Either a Shark or a Hoover, can't be both.

You are right of course, but familiarise yourself with these Wiki pages:

Yes, when people say they have a Dyson/Shark/Miele etc 'hoover', they are technically wrong given that Hoover owns the trademark, but using 'hoover' to describe a vacuum cleaner or the process of vacuuming (hoovering) has become so common over here that it's in all the major dictionaries even with a lowercase 'h'; meaning that you can use it when playing Scrabble.

TL;DR:
1. Don't worry about it when people call a vacuum a 'hoover'.
2. I've had a few pints.

Does anyone have this? How good is it on carpet?

Previous version, looks like colour has changed. It's OK, nowhere near the suction of my vax, but, its £50, if you just want it for a quick clean it's ok. One point, the primary filter is paper and not washable.
BUHere's the actual Which 'First Look' summary review (AUG 2018):

"Which? verdict:

Pros
  • Hard floors left visibly clean
  • Easy to use
  • Simple to empty and clean
  • Useful accessories
  • Battery-life indicator
  • Several filters including Hepa.
Cons
  • Carpets required multiple sweeps to get visibly clean
  • Struggled with lint and fluff
  • Quite noisy

Overview:
This Lidl Silvercrest vacuum could be a winner if you have a smaller home with predominantly hard floors. But it wasn’t brilliant at cleaning carpets, and was a little uncomfortable to hold for cleaning larger areas.

If you’ve got a smaller home or flat, and mostly hard floors, this Lidl vacuum could be a handy tool to keep on top of cleaning. We thought it was decent quality for the price, and did a good job of cleaning hard floors and dusty corners.

However, it wasn’t great at cleaning carpets, so you might end up frustrated if you’ve got lots of thick pile to get through."

How's that a review?
I had the old version that I mainly used in the kitchen. It did the job but suction wasnt great and it struggled picking up large crumbs.

I now have dyson v6 and its loads better, although it is 3 times the price...

There's no review there. Unless of course you join which, or go to a library. More info on actual performance in my 'review' above!

There is no review on either links, just talk about specs, which doesn't provide much help.
I bough this the device is ok, but has not enough suction to work without the motorized roller picking up in the head. Unfortunately on mine hair destroyed the head in a month, so it works no longer. Replacements are available online, but honestly it does not worth it. Save the £50 towards an outlet dyson or a shark one.
Voted cold as it comes with a 12v connector but doubt it would be any good for car carpets. Especially boot

Don't think it comes with 12v connection.

Had my eye on this. Will pick one up Sunday to see what it's like.

No video reviews in English but here's one in French:

Yeah I quite enjoyed it even though I understood little of the audio. It seems that this is a decent quick 'round the house' vacuum if you mainly have hard floor or thin carpet. But it won't replace a corded vacuum and it won't be great on deep pile carpet.

My elderly parents have the 40v Vax and it's not that good for anything well stuck to the carpet like fluff. Ok for spillage and dust.
Shark is the best!

That's not saying much considering the cordless VAX I had was absolutely abysmal in vacuuming rubbish

Hoover is a Hoover. £50 for a cordless is good. Best for laminate or wooden floor. Carpet should be ok... pet hair... could be hit and miss. Just my guess on that

I'm buying one regardless and will update the thread on my thoughts of it. Lidl's warranty is usually provided on a 'no questions asked' basis, so if I don't like it, they can have it back.

As we have predominantly hard floor in the house and thin carpet upstairs in the two smaller bedrooms, I'm sure it'll be fine as a backup vacuum/quick cleanup vacuum. It certainly probably won't replace my elderly (and reliable) Dyson DC03 as my main vacuum of course.

Voltage doesn't matter. It's the watts that matters. The Vax could still be lower powered than this.
I like hoovering with my shark cordless

Please do update us. Will also get one myself to be honest and update that too. Looks like a good gamble for the price
