I used to buy in Lidl until very recently.

IMHO they have lost the plot. Two vegan (meet-free) catalogues in a row and in Christmas season?
Stats are than less than 5% of UK is vegan, yet the LIDL bosses continue to target mostly them. I can only assume that they are vegan themselves and cannot think outside the box.

And having LIDL/ALDI most of their own brand product's supplied by the exact same manufacturers, in my last check huge majority is cheaper in Aldi. 5-10c per product doesn't seems much, but in a weekly shopping is a good difference.

Many branded products are also made by the same factory as unbranded ones but it doesn’t make them the same. They’re all made separately with different ingredients on different production lines. It’s a misnomer that just because a white goods manufacturer makes multiple products they will all be the same quality or ingredients.

That said, I won’t dispute Aldi is cheaper though, at least around here, their stores are poorly laid out and look like warehouses while Lidl feel like a more traditional shop.

These Lidl "deals" just ain't what they used to be. 😥

Totally agree with you. Their weekly deals are getting less and less attractive. For a supermarket who does not do online shopping, no click and collect and customers can't even search items and prices on their web, you would imagine a huge management costs would be saved and passed onto customers. That doesn't seem to be case any more.

Lidl is a depressing place to shop these days amid empty shelves, out of stock items and higher prices.. Fruit and veg though seems plentiful but having recently been attracted to Aldi and cheaper prices at Asda surprisingly I'll just be using Lidl for items I can't get elsewhere and no longer for main shops. I can't be alone in this judging by the reduced footfall observed in recent months.

Agreed. The amount of empty shelves is incredible!

We really miss the Super Weekend deals, when they had up to 50% off certain items.

Nothing against the vegetarian stuff but I'm not particularly impressed about the LIDL range (and the prices!) I remember Iceland had most of their vegetarian products half priced in January. Farmfoods have also secured really good deals from brands such as Quorn and Oumph! (currently a pack of Fry's plant based burgers 69p).

Does anyone know when Lidl do their second round of reductions pls? Just there's a joint of beef rib that was £35 and now it's £25 with 30% off but hoping to get it cheaper. I've always wanted to try beef rib joint.

And what have they done with the rewards system? It was so sweet - spend 200 get 12 quid back. Now it’s - spend 250 and get 10% of your next shop. Your next shop is just milk and they are saving you a whole 12p. To be honest, they changed that card stuff and at around the same time Asda came up with their Asda card. I’ve saved so much with Asda, like waaay more than Lidl’s 10% BS Also, their middle shelves used to be mostly amazing finds. And it seems that quality just went down the hill. Bought coffee capsule holder which supposed to turn, it was in a box and I didn’t open it since it was a present. Then my brother tells me that it was all freaking crooked inside and I should return it.
Also, the designer who created the black dog harness is most likely going to hell with the rest of the other “Mr-my-arms-grow-outta-my-butt” designers. It just doesn’t sit right on the dog. Impossible to adjust, I think something is sown upside down there… anyway, no bs I used to be able spend a few hours in the shop, now I’m in there 20 mins max and almost never as Asda is closer. Meh. 🥱 #aldiisbetter
