I've just been in to my local Lidl in Newhaven and the Deluxe Mature Blue Stilton - which they had sold out of yesterday @ £3.29 is now scanning @ £2.49. There was no price ticket on the shelf and I don't know if it's nationwide

This cheese was named Best Festive Stilton in the Daily Mail - at £3.29

Lidl link: lidl.co.uk/cps…htm

Update: This appears to be Nationwide - "Also the deluxe mini-brie (500g) was reduced to this price as well." Thanks IndianaBlues #3

Strange, thought Daily Mail readers only ate chedder, or low fat cottage cheese if they're feeling adventurous.

They must shop in Lidl though. This cheese has been sold out in my local Lidl every day since the article was published

The only reason there's still some left today is because they put it on a shelf under "Parmesan Ham" with no indication of the price or what it is - apart from the tiny package label

I just found some in mine for the £2.49 price, hidden under some pasta nowhere near the rest of the cheese Also the deluxe mini-brie (500g) was reduced to this price as well. Thanks OP.

EDIT: Not sure why this is listed as a Daily Mail deal, surely it would get more exposure as a Lidl one?

Yea - I got the links the wrong way round

As this appears to be Nationwide, perhaps a mod could swop the links?

I am pretty sure this is is from the Long Cawston dairy (check the fine print). I paid a lot more for this stilton in Waitrose. Because its worth it:)

This is from the Long Clawson Dairy Ltd, Leicestershire

I've just tasted a piece and it's lovely - strong but creamy

Just found in my local in London ;had a very official marked down price .no marker stickers .Looked national

I thought I heard Morrisons had the best Xmas stilton this year but haven't been able to get to a store? Is the Morrisons one also Long Cawston dairy? If it is, hopefully I've got a few more store options to purchase a sample from. That is, if there is any left by the time I get to a Lidl/Morrisons etc.

Strong and creamy stilton is scrumptious.

Edit: Do they sell smaller sizes? 454g of cheese is a Man Vs Food style challenge

Can't beat a hunk of smelly Stilton at Christmas!! Great on crumbly oatcakes!! I'm making myself hungry here!!

Stilton is the best cheese, leave it out in the shed for a month then it's lovely and ripe and smells like you've had your fingers up your **** for a month.

Fake!

Managers struggle to get Deluxe stock in, it's really hit and miss. The stilton was offsale for days in my store and then Friday night had two boxes come in. They were gone by yesterday lol.

Just go to Lidl - before they update their shelf tickets - and before all of the "Mail Readers" who purchased this cheese nectar @ £3.29 - restock

@ £2.49 for 454g - you won't be disappointed

The "Use by" date on today's purchase is 12th Jan

I always buy Tesco finest Long Clawson at Xmas. Wonder if this is the same stuff. I have had Long Clawson Stilton that is not as good as Tesco finest so I think there must be different grades.

This is labelled:
