£0.89LIDL Deals
Lidl half price weekend offers for the 6th & 7th June.
Lidl's Tilda 'copy' basmati rice is only 89p per kilo bag. Not bad for kilo sized bags, you normally have to buy 5kg bags or more to get near that price per kilo.
Other stuff half price include -
Courgettes @ 99p per kilo (loose)
Sweet and sour sauce 510g @ 37p
Either pork chops 700g @ £1.59
or
Pork steaks 300g @ 99p
Check your local for your meat offer, as it can vary.
Every Lidl helps. ;-)

Not bad for the price but not as good as most brands or other supermarket own brands personally I'd rather pay slightly more and get a better quality product.
Almost a recommendation from you 'jase99' are you feeling ok?
How do you know, did a "friend" buy it for you?
It's Lidl's premium brand Basmati, only Lidl and Aldi do a "premium" Basmati under their own branding.
I find the Lidl product requires a minutes less cooking, about 7 min over the 8 min gentle boil for Aldi.
I find the taste and texture very similar if cooked well, and is as good as the most popular brand Tilda's premium Basmati, which also tends to need 8 min.
You do need to wash all the above mentioned rice til the water is clear or it will end up sticky, and boil it gently so the water is rolling, but not bubbling as this will over cook the rice, and the larger the pan with more water the less likely it will go clumpy. Then tip into a strainer and leave it to cook in it's own residual heat for another 8 min.
You can poor some fresh boiled water from a kettle over the rice if you find its still a little clumpy.
Remember, premium Basmati tastes nicer, but is very sensitive to cooking times, 1 minute more cooking, letting it boil too fast, or soaking it for too long before cooking will all result in the rice becoming too soft, mushy or water logged.
May I add, before someone picks me up, you can use the traditional boil using exact amount of water so when its cooked there is no water left if you want to cook it like an Asian family might, or steam it of course like the restaurants do, for that I would recommend studying from an expert first.
