It would be more useful if you were to provide price comparison with other headphones which claim to be noise-cancelling rather than with an example of a different category of headphones.

Decent Sony, Koss or Sennheiser headphones appear on HUKD from time to time at attractive prices but it's the noise-cancelling aspect of these phones at this price that is interesting so we want to know to what extent there is a trade-off between that feature and the fundamental spec.

I bought these yesterday. They were bought for their noise cancelling properties and wearing them indoors they do cancel out low end/ base noise. I'd imagine that they would do a great job cancelling out engine drone on planes, trains etc. They also work well as conventional headphones with a nice long cable to connect to any standard device. In the pack you get an aircraft adapter and a carry pouch. I will be keeping these. They had plenty left in my local store yesterday.

What brand/model are they?

They are Silver Crest (zero brand) - they are well made and I took them on a flight to Edinburgh today. If they were branded as SONY you wouldn't question it. They seem to reduce cabin noise by 30 - 50% although this is my estimate. They really are quite good.
