Lidl Screenwash with Anti Freeze - £5.99 for 5L

Surprised this hasn't already been mentioned - be quick if you want some, it'll sell out quick.

5L of "Ultimate Speed" screenwash with anti-freeze for £5.99

Not to be confused with cheap "screenwash" at the supermarkets and Halfords etc. This stuff will work down to -60c undiluted or if you mix it 1:1 will work down to -20c or 2:1 will work down to -10c

I always use it 2 parts water to 1 part screenwash and it never froze all last winter even down to -15c so I can vouch for its quality. Plus if you do it 2:1 then you basically get 15 litres for £5.99 so less than 40p per litre which is probably less than some supermarket crap.

They don't have it in all the time, only once in a while and probably not again for 6 months, if a year. So if you want some of this, recommend getting some quick.

Absolute nonsense!! This stuff has antifreeze in it, ergo it'll still work on the coldest of days. Your asda rubbish will freeze and you'll be left unable to clear your windscreen.

Not a fan of Lidl, but bought this last year and it was great stuff. Heat added.

Then it works down to -6c and at £3.99 for 5L, works out double the price of the Lidl one

Yep.
But british winter isn't so cold to use arctic screen wash. -6 does the job very well. The Lidls one smell kills,it is just awful, smells chemicals.

Agree the smell isn't great, but i'm in the car and thats outside, I don't sniff it...

Disagree about the temp... was often down to -10 and more in the Midlands next year... if you don't agree then just dilute it further and make it even better value.... the point being, have a better (albeit slightly smelly) product for half the price of your alternative...

Agree with you, great price. Voted hot here.It even melts ice if you put some in spray bottle-good de-icer.
But as long as I have money to buy car and keep it on the road - don't care about screen wash price too much.

This is the normal price of this screen wash.
However it is really great and a good buy even at this full price.
The normal supermarkets screen wash seems to get more dilute each year, and when I was using Tescos last year, it was freezing on my screen, even though I had my screen wash tank full of just screen wash and no added water at all, the worrying thing was the outside temperature was only minus 4. With the Lidl screen wash I have been fine at minus 20 (at minus 30 it still works but comes out a bit gel like) and for minus 10 and above I use it diluted and it is always fine. It does smell strong, but I find this reassuring as I know it won't be freezing on my screen when I'm travelling fast across Europe in winter.
Because this is so concentrated, don't forget antifreeze is very toxic and keep it away from young kids and pets who both like the smell and sweet taste of antifreeze (this might be why this one is madenot to smell so appealing)
Have been buying Lidl screenwash for a few years now and stock up every time it's on offer.

The best I have ever used. never frozen yet and has been down to -30 C at times.

Yes it smells stronger than other brands but THIS WORKS. Also de-ices the screen as previous poster said.

Use it all year round in 3 cars in family just dilute to extremely weak in Summer and takes fly squash off better than other brands as well. Does not do any damage to paint or rubbers and one of my cars is a classic 1971 sports coupe used all year round.(and lives outside)

It smells strong, but also kills anything living in the washer bottle as the water goes from hot to cold too many times to mention

I do likewise. This stuff is awesome. I buy six bottles every time it is on sale in Lidl at this time of year. The six bottles, by careful dilution throughout the year, last the four cars in my family all year round. This stuff can be diluted to amazing levels during the freeze free months, and can be used in less diluted solutions during freezing spells.
Freezing, hot, hot, hot, deal for me.

NO - nice mixer with tonic!
Does this work well as a mouthwash and will the anti-freeze help with lockjaw?

I'm thinking of rebottling into small glass bottles and selling in my health shop at £5 a pop. Should make a killing!

Well that was an intelligent and informed opinion wasn't it! Without knowing just how much anti-freeze is in the Asda screen wash how do you know which is better? Not all of us live where the temperature gets below -10C and if the Asda stuff will handle that then that post made a good point.

Now, that said I've given this LIDL deal some heat. I've used it in the past and it works really well, and being so concentrated gives you a full range of options on how much you dilute it - according to the season and where you live. 1 bottle of this LIDL stuff also takes up less space than 3 bottles of the diluted stuff which is another win. Sure it's not actually a special offer price as such but this is a pretty good deal for a really high quality wash.

If I am on your ignore list how were you able to read my post? IDIOT.
PS It was -22 where I live. The diesel in our cars became so cold it waxed to a stage that cars were not able to be driven for four days.
IDIOT.
Works great, very good stuff.
Stinks to high heaven though, every time I use the washer jets the strong chemical smell fills the car.
Would use something else if I could find anything half as effective.
Believe this also works with the VAG fan type washer jets.

Here you go then Obvious Troll - now for 2012: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_European_cold_wave

United Kingdom - On the night of February 10–11, the temperature in England fell to −15.6 °C (3.9 °F), the coldest temperatures since Boxing Day in 2010.

http://metofficenews.wordpress.com/2012/02/

Friday night saw the lowest temperatures of the winter so far, falling to a biting -15.6C at Holbeach, Lincolnshire

(The lowest temperature in Scotland was again about -13 Degrees C)

Cold, and calm down.
ALDI sells this far cheaper, and yes, it has antifreezer in it too.

I wouldn't call this a deal.

Thats funny, I was in Aldi yesterday before I went to buy this stuff in Lidl.... strangely they didn't have any screenwash in at all....
Asda stuff works to -5 for those asking.

I tend to use the Asda screenwash in the summer and the milder months, then switch to the stuff with Antifreeze in when the temp starts regularly dropping below freezing

The Aldi one doesn't work up to -60 so isn't the same. Not the one I saw anyway. Last one I saw was similar to the Halfords or Asda stuff mentioned previously and only good for 5 or ten below, and that's only when used neat.

You can dilute this stuff 3:1 and get the same strength as the undiluted Aldi one.
