To be fair to the OP, Lidl's tend to be better quality than your standard supermarket fare

I've tried a couple of Lidl meals in the past, they're actually not too bad.

Waitrose could be the exception .

there some snobs in here .. thanks for the post

I read that the chilled meals are made by Noon that supply M&S and Waitrose. I checked the box and it is true. Also of course much cheaper.

I doubt anyone cares what you put in your sentences.

Dont judge before you have tried them - they have loads of good quality meat in them. If you can afford to pay M & S and Waitrose prices thats fine but at £1.18 its a bargain.

I've had the Chicken tikka massala £1.69 (ish) and it's beauty and i've tried them all - i think! This Thai curry is good too, esp. for the price.

Is the £1.18 with a short-date 30% off (1.69 x 0.7) or is it on offer?

I'll add heat for ur effort but not a fan of ready meals no matter what store.

I used to inspect two of the factories that make the 'better' quality frozen meals and they do make for Aldi and Lidl.

very tasty.

Not in my experience

Also morrisons which are regularly on buy one get one free.... great for singletons with no time to cook.

Did you go for the 2 for 1 from morrisons aswell then?

I have a friend who bought the frozen ones from asda the other week which were 4 for £3 and he said they didn't even touch the sides and that was after eating all 4 oO

I tried one of these for lunch a few days ago and have to agree it was pretty good taste wise, good post.

For a bunch of cheapskates some of you guys are pretty snobby about LIDL, funny really. For the information of anyone who's previously been too snobby to eat things from LIDL both the Thai Green Curry and the Thai Red Curry are very tasty.

You get what you pay for. These Thai curries are nothing like the authentic ones, i prefer the wifes authentic Thai green curry that has the proper veg in it and a lot more chicken than these include (if you can call it chicken) X)

That don't make sense on deals website as your getting more for less £

I would agree with you there but in the first post it doesn't mention if it is a discounted price or if this is the actual price its sold at.

You can't honestly think these are gonna be good for the money????

You spent the £1.18 on a mail order bride. Then she is cooking curry to your hearts content!!? I take my hat off to you sir.

Noon make their Indian curries too under the 'Kan Pur' name which are very tasty. I believe they also make Morrisons curries too. Look at the back of the packaging.

what a sad bunch of rude, obnoxious snobs who have to big themselves up by putting others down. Lidl and Aldi offer exceptional quality at bargain prices, and if people have more money than sense and want to chuck their money away in Waitrose and M&S in the mistaken belief that paying more, gives you better quality then go ahead, but leave the rest of us to enjoy value and taste when we find it without your rude and unsolicited comments.

I can read the headlines now - "Microwave meals not like authentic home cooked food shocker!"
Maybe you should go down your local Chinese takeaway and protest it's not like the food served in China as well.

1.18 was 1.69 - 30% off.

Lidl has won 'The Grocer' magazine 'Own Label Excellence' award in the past, and its meals like this that show why. I enjoy a Chateaubriand just as much as the next man (or woman) but I can also recognise value for money and love a bargain
Thats why we're all here isnt it???

The big issue with microwave meals is high salt content; more often than not they contain massive amounts of salt to hide the lack of taste due to the cheap ingredients, which of course is massively unhelathy..

So unless the OP can tell us what the salt content of this one is, it's impossible to vote either way.

Original Poster

Salt content is 2.61 grams, 44% of your RDA. Thanks to Kingy58 for pointing out I got 30% off as an in store promotion (to move some short dated stock) normal price £1.68.

Still a bargain!

Thanks for that; really is extremely high salt content so I'll leave this one to others.

Original Poster

I've just had more than that on 1 chip! 44% isnt high, just have a banana for breakfast and you've still got 56% left for tea!!!
