Lidl versions of popular choc bars 9p

Found 24th Mar 2014
Just been to Lidl in Shirley, Southampton and they have their own brand versions of Twix, Mars, Snickers, Bounty and Milky Way on sale for 9p each. Asked the checkout lady and she said it should be national as their offers generally are.

I think they are great quality and not at all a poor substitute. In fact I prefer the 'Peanut Choco' to the real Snickers.

9p though! Seriously!

If my local Lidl is anything to go by - they had sold out within a few days - you'll be lucky to find any. Good deal if you can find them. Heat added.

This chocolate is very close to the brand and for 9p you cant really go wrong. Heat!

These are the clearance lines that used to sit at the checkout ....replaced by "Healthy" food .

Almost like the real ones: Twinx, Marzz, Sknickers, Bownties and Milkay Waes.

Yeah peanut Chocos are awesome!

I buy the multipack of their mini Bounty copies and they are lovely

yup agree - ditch the big brands and buy these cheaper ones when ur having a binge day lol... i am lucky to have a lidl round the corner - rarely use tesco or asda anymore!

The "milky ways" are bigger bars too, like mars bar size. All nice and at 9p they could taste a bit worse and they'd still be great value.

This wont end well if it gets voted hot. All the chocolate will melt

Got a few when they were on offer a couple of weeks ago. Done a taste test against the real Mars bar & twix & was hard to tell difference. None in Wallsend Lidl this morning though.

Damn, just got back from shopping in Shirley

Hopefully they will still be there tomorrow!

may's well eat cheaper versions when having a binge as they are both trashy--binge-o-food

get jaw ache anyway eating the same confectionary

Be careful I got told off for buying more than 20 of each item. So was only allowed 20 of each and I ate them, got spotty and now wobble more.

twix are nice,i get their 5 twin bars for 95p

Don't forget to wash it all down with a bottle of Jack Spaniels.

sold out in ours last month - was told they were being discontinued
check the dates on them as some were very short dated

as for being like the big brand equivalent.. nope, not even close for some
(tbh i have forgotten what milky way one was like)
bounty not nearly as good, bit bitter
twix totally different, base is more like shortbread than biscuit - some may prefer
snickers is pretty close and the one i get if any, not as good though
mars bar imo this one is better but i am not a big fan of mars bars

Lidl chocolate bar is what Radio One DJs call a fun size mars.

for 9p they would all taste brill too me sold out here north

Just went to Lidl in Shirely, Southampton (store in post).

They've all gone

very cold - rubbish as food goes, empty calories, causes weight gain, rots your teeth, they should be promoting healthy food.

Very true but lidl also sell (and promote) a lot of very healthy food. Compared to the big British supermarkets I reckon they do very well at that actually. Their fruit and veg is second to none, usually seasonal and always cheap plus they sell nuts in bulk and a lot of other healthy stuff. So lets say you eat 80% of your diet as good stuff, your body can easily cope with the odd sweet snack. Everything in moderation.

Thanks for all the heat everyone, shame it's not proving so easy to find.

Not true. As we always have these items on order :-)

Just to let you know, I was in Lidl Eastleigh today and they had 11 boxes of 32 of the 'bounty' ones on the shelf.
