I'm sure some of you already know about this deal, but I thought I should post this because I've noticed deals not even coming close to this one.

500 mins, 500 txt, 500mb all for a fiver, not even a contract, this is for 30 day sim, With life mobile. I've asked if it drops back down to 250 mins and it doesn't.

They use the ee network , I've ordered a couple and did it through topcashback, you get £5.05 back each sim.

Just ported my wife's number to this sim and customer services were great , no problems. They even allow you to have a limit on, if you go over your allowance you can set it so it doesn't go over £5.00, so no nasty surprises, I've just change by daughters pay as you go to this knowing that I'm not going to have hefty bill, just £5.00 a month.

In the market for something like this but another example of marking down without explanation has happened.

Please help us out here.

Isn't there still a hidden fee with freedompop on this for 1.99 per month

FreedomPop has an activation fee, but there is no monthly fee unless you opt for some of the extras.

For those voting cold please tell me where there is better than this for £5 and as this is for my older brother who isn't tech savvy I'm not interested in freedompop

What happens after 30 days ?

Op should have indicated in the title that Life mobile does not just run on EE but is actually owned by EE. EE acquired life mobile from phones for you administrators.

why do you need to be tech savvy to use freedom pop? order a SiM for £6.99, uncheck the 1.99 extras tick box and hit order. Why is that so difficult?

don't complain about the cold votes when you're being provided with the cheaper alternative.

I've given heat. From what I've read on freedompop the basic package is free after initial costs. However it is not a cheaper alternative offering the same as this deal so, therefore, not comparable.

Jolly japes - not!

Isn't FreedomPop a VOIP service whereas this is a "proper" sim which uses your phone's native dialler etc?

I've had time now to look on their website. The other sim only deals look good too. It's an added bonus that you can set the cap you want on the sim. Looks like the minimum cap is £1.00. Thanks for the post. Next stop topcashback!

It's just another £5.00 again on direct debit, but you can cancel at anytime. 30 days notice, no twelve or eighteen month contract

For new customers I guess?? The last Life deal posted worked out more expensive for me as I am already a Life customer - nice of them!!

Does voicemail come out of your minutes? I know before Orange who used to charge from minutes then started to charge 35p a minute and not from your minute allocation!

Some providers like talk talk don't even charge for voicemail at all! Its free all the time and doesn't use your minute allocation

Just had a look at the freedom pop page - as stated 'Free trial' but when you go to pay the 6.99 you also agree to pay 8.99 every 30 days after the initial period.
Am I misreading that ??

Have been considering this deal for my daughter who is beginning uni.Went for £8 pm deal with over 1 month topcashback.
Great deal! So hard to believe it's cold.Well done jurassic_park!

I too am considering the £8/month deal (1500 xminutes, ulimited texts,1000mb data and £8.40 TCB); can you please tell me if your daughter has received a good service? I have read a lot of very poor, recent feedback from customers, so I am being a little cautious.

Is there anything better out there at the moment on a 30-day contract?

Cheers, heat added purely on price.

It's early days but so far so good, organised porting, gone through fine and in general there has been no issues.

The 'out of bundle costs' are on the tariff page that can be found here:

life-mobile.co.uk/?aw…c74

Click on "Price Guides and Charges" which is under the main photograph. The charges are quite high, but then that is the point of staying within the competitive 'in bundle' model.

I just gave Life Mobile a call and spoke to a very helpful and informative man; he confirmed that voicemail/answer phone retrieval is included within the minutes of your chosen bundle and that it might indeed be useful to state that clearly on the website, as it does with data. He informed me that PAC transfers are generally being handled within 2-working days and that currently the company do not have any particular difficulties. He confirmed that they are owned and operated by EE and are planning to release an account management app in the near future. He was not aware of any impending price changes.

I was impressed with this first contact and will probably sign up soon. Nice to know it is only a 30-day contract if things do not go to 'call' plan.

Cheers

Just a note. You can't port a mobile from TMobile. You'll have to port it out to eg '3' & then to Life. Just takes a few more days

Sadly 08 numbers are excluded from allowance so not for me.

0800 &0808 numbers are free.

I use 0844 numbers a lot to call mobiles abroad and it was always a deal breaker for me.

Thanks a lot that was really helpful yes if you pay £8 a month then do you even have to worry about out of bundle costs!
I normally use about 250 on a heavy month maybe 300-350 but never more than 400 i only use about 200 mb of data so its a fantastic deal and its post pay so no making sure you got credit on for any other type calls!

To the person that says 084 is excluded i don't know any operator that includes them!

There are other ways like you send a text that gets charged at £5 and then its 3p a min or whatever and you can now use an 080 number which is free from all mobiles much better than 084 numbers!

That does not make the deal cold! But fair enough if you don't like it!

You are very welcome; this deal sounds ideal for you.

Another interesting deal is posted below, however I am being even more cautious with that one as the feedback has been almost entirely negative. They use EE too, but are not owned or managed by them.

Signed up for the £8/month deal today; confused as to why this has been voted cold

This is a great deal, better than ID offering and you're dealing with EE who own Life so not likely to go bust!

I think it got voted cold because every one was excited about Freedompop launch a week ago and seemingly great deal that wasn't!! For voice minutes and texts its great, if you need more data then I think you paid £8 a month for a stonking 1500 mins and 1 GB data.

Yes, I was thinking along the same lines. Also, this deal does not offer 4G which I don't really care about. I am more interested in a mobile deal that can take over from my landline; minutes take precedence over texts/data so for me this is great. Obviously, I have no problem with it becoming even cheaper in the future

Don't understand why this is cold?

£5 quid for a 30 day contact - 500mins etc - that's fantastic

Exactly most are £7.50 to £8 for this level £5 on giffgaff is just 100 mins yes they don't charge 35p out of bundle but with 500 mins you wouldn't need too! Need to unlock my phone for this deal though its locked to voda even though i'm with talktalk

I am also leaving TalkTalk; they currently use Vodaphone which is why your mobile is ok. I was happy to stay with TT on the £12/month unlimited everything deal, but they wanted to double it to £24/month as I am moving my landline/broadband to Sky on the MSE deal. Only downside is that I was previously with EE and the signal is not as strong in my area, but it's ok.

I am glad others see the value in this deal.

Cheers
