Life On Mars - The Complete Series One

Sam Tyler (John Simm) is an ambitious young detective determined to keep the streets of 21st Century Manchester safe. However, the hunt for a serial killer becomes a personal vendetta when Sam suspects his girlfriend has been kidnapped by the very man he's tracking down.

But after a near fatal car accident, Sam wakes up, dazed and confused, in 1973, struggling to understand what's real. Has he gone back in time? Or has he simply gone insane? His new boss is hard-nosed DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister), a man who gets results by trusting his gut instinct and using a 'fists first question later' policy.

Thrown head-first into this new world, Sam faces some of the hardest cases he has ever known. He has no idea why he is in 1973, but maybe if he can work out the reason, he can get home...

Review

"My name is Sam Tyler. I had an accident and woke up in 1973. Am I mad? In a coma? Or back in time?

Since DCI Sam Tyler awoke, dazed from a car accident, things have felt a little bit off kilter. About 30 years off kilter... In this thrilling final series of Life on Mars, Sam continues to try and work out why he's ended up in 1973 and in the meantime tries to make a difference to those around him. The team, led by DCI Gene Hunt, continue to fight crime and fight each other. Their investigations are just as though as ever - from investigating a spate of bombs in the heart of the Irish Community, to a murder in an underworld boxing club, and even undercover with some swingers in middle-class suburbia.

But as the series unfolds, Sam is still driven by his quest to find a way out of this world. What has happened to him? And why is he there? Maybe if he can work out the reason, he can get home....

bought both. but bad delivery times so not hopeful.

Surely it can't be long until you can get both sets for a tenner in total.

You can pretty much find each for that much anywhere you look online these days.

Not going to vote, the life on mars boxs sets seem to be a favourite post amongst HUKDers.

Never watched this before, but very tempted for this price!

If memory serves me right, these aren't proper blu-ray 1080p resolutions but 'upscaled' DVDs...

Yes, the series were filmed in SD. Seems a bit pointless releasing them in Blu-ray format.

So I assume I'm not going to see a marked improvement watching these on my newly acquired Panny Blu Ray player then over the standard dvd box set I've already got? :?

They have both these in the 2 for £20 in Asda (Livingston, Scotland) - had them in my mitts tonight but thought it likely I'd get them cheaper online...maybees no... never seen the series at all although I'm aware of the kudos and the sense of mystery it carries..is it worth getting on blu ray when the reveal has been revealed?

cheers
