superhot.... this will rocket .. and im the 1st to comment......

Audio support?

Brand?? Coming to think of it I don't care for a quid!! Hot

If its not a genuine apple product it won't work unfortunately

I have not heard of any cheap ones working correctly yet.

I buy cheap ones from ebay and they work fine.. Sync + charge and play audio to my car headunit! Buy them and sell them on!

More likely to fall apart or burn out, wouldn't use it with my device.

I bought a couple off a LivingSocial deal for £8 and when I connected it to my ILuv dock it started smoking and now no longer charges anything. I'd be careful with these cheap ones, not worth wrecking a £530 iPhone over

You're so cool.

Well it's working fine so far

Bought a similar one and lasted three days

I bought 2 from eBay and they worked for a while but one caused my phone to get very hot when charging and the other stopped working altogether.

I just bit the bullet and spent £15 for an official cable from apple, felt ripped off but not worth me risking my 600£ device.

cheap ones will fall apart after couple days. Try this one much better and looks nicerilluminated lightning cable

At a quid, it's certainly worth a risk.

I'm normally in the camp of "Im sure the cable will be fine as its just a cable" but I would be reluctant to use this on my iProduct without insurance purely as I've seen various posts about some rip off Chinese cables fudging up the port/board.

Doesn't just apply to fruit themed products either, my co-workers HTC Desire died (or rather the PCB attached to the charging port) after using a cheap dodgy USB cable - turns out the cabling wasn't amazing and some of it "fall apart" inside the cable, causing wires to touch. I assume that power was sent down one of the wires it wasn't supposed to!

Edit: Not to say cheap cables are always bad, I have some amazing micro USB cables I got for next to nothing, just at least Google the manufacturer first (Although, most the poundland stuff are whitelabel firms) Just my 2 cents

Your choice. I have 2 working fine

i would have thought poundland stuff will be fully tested ? not like knockoff stuff on ebay

It won't?

Best tell the ones I've been using for months then....

You pay over £500 for a phone but scrimp to use a cheap cable that may stop working and worse still damage your iPhone.
I laugh at people who say, that ones broke I'll just buy another, then another and so on until they have spent more than the £15 for an official one that is going to last as long as you have the iPhone.
At the end of the day, it is up to consumers on what they purchase but if its as cheap as these then be warned you get what you pay for.

then why did the first one stop working in the first place??

It's personal choice, some may work and some may fry your phone. That's the risk you take and only you can decide if its worth the risk. All I know is the adaptor I got fried my £70 speaker dock!

Bought one today - works on my iPhone 5

These aren't just wires. They've got some circuitry too.

I'm not in the position to buy one myself, but I'd say this is a lot riskier than buying a simple micro/mini USB cable from China. Funnily enough, the only cables I've had go bad were original Apple ones, as the rubber tears away at the joints after some use.

I bought one and it turned my iPhone into a molten omelette oO

Do you have a link for these?

My cheap Ebay one charges fine but transferring 4gb of songs, it failed halfway. OK as a charger cable. Rearding Poundland quality, well, 2 separately purchased car headlight bulbs from Poundland fused within days.

I had two cheap one and both packed up after a few weeks so i just bought an official one and thats been fine .. Ya better of just spending the £15 imo

A cheap lightening cable broke my first iPhone 5. It wasn't a perfect fit and it damaged the connector slot on the bottom of my phone.

Apple cables are far too expensive, but you're better safe than sorry.

Don't you mean Apple Crumble?

Waste of a quid if you ask me.

Some of the comments are hilarious. it's a cable at the end of the day find it hard to believe it will fry your device.

A cable that costs £1 that contains very sensitive electronics that could fry your phone and also invalidate your warranty, Cold deal sorry!

And it's not just a cable at the end of the day, it has voltage regulators and an authentication chip, they go wrong or short circuit then bye bye iDevice. I wonder how many corners have been cut and how well the design has been implemented, not very well if they are sold for £1

And Apple know when a non genuine cable has been plugged in if you take your phone in for repair.

Please don't use this on your expensive device, invest in a proper cable.

I've bought six of ebay (1M & 3M various sellers) over last few weeks and all are now faulty, the soldering on the connector is very poor and the first tug short circuits them, I'm now going to try the smaller "adaptors" as there is no wire to stretch.
Its still a hot deal if it lats better than my ebay ones!

Bought two from here both worked for a week, then stopped, waste of time.

How can they tell if it was charged by a non genuine lead?. Perhaps they ask Siri, "did this guy charge you with a fake lead" I have been charging my Ipad with a ebay charger and lead for a fair time. Not a problem, Mind you. I work with a load of young people and rather than work they spend all day Fecking about on their phones, more likely that that screws up the phones, rather than the charging lead.

Old iPad / phone leads were fine but the new ones talk to the phone /ipadso apple will be able to tell what's gone in. They are unfortunately not just normal cables.

rofl @ all the scare mongers, never bought any official cables since i've owned iphones since 2008 & never once had a problem with any of my devices. had third party lightning leads since they were first available on ebay & all of them still working a treat.

don't let the scare mongers put you off, for a quid they are ideal to keep spare for car / office etc....

Can we have a group hug for all the apple people fretting about being trapped into a brand? ((())) bless...

For £1 it has to be rubbish and use inferior components. If people want to plug this junk into expensive devices - go ahead. I would rather place my ££ on the Apple version.
