Hello.

Lightroom 6 has just been available in last 24hours, this is the cheapest way to get it if you currently have Lightroom 5 or below, I prefer buying the stand alone then going CC route and for £59 one off, it's certainly a good upgrade!

- I'm downloading it right now!

How to upgrade to Adobe Lightroom 6:
use this link - adobe.com/pro…031

•Under “Photoshop Lightroom 6 – $149″ click “Buy”
•Change your purchase via "edit" button from “Full” to “Upgrade”
•Next, select the version of LR you actually own
•Check-out and pay £59.09 for the upgrade

Great offer since it is same price whether you are upgrading from Lr 5 or any of the earlier versions

Agreed, just purchased the upgrade for my v4 copy of LR so a great price.

So what does this "For desktop only. Mobile capabilities and features update not included." mean?

Not voted either way but note that is just "the price", it is not any kind of deal.

exactly what it means... suitable for windows or mac desktop only.

the "price" is the cheapest you're going to find for a full stand alone edition, so for me... it's a deal because I wouldn't have bought it any other way and it's a heads up for those who have previous editions but it's not made clear you can upgrade and not purchase full price.

I read that as "features update not included", are you saying it is only the mobile capabilities which are missing and that all new features are present? And still not a deal IMHO 'cos it is not available for more elsewhere. Any existing owner would be sure to look for an upgrade though I concede Adobe do not go out of their way to flag this option. I might upgrade my LR3 if I get all the new stuff included.

hence for my post here about sharing it with others for the upgrade.
and yes all of the updates are here just not being able to use on Mobiles too, but not interested in that either way, you can still view content on mobiles, i'm loving Lightroom 6, such an improvement even over 5, specially now GPU is being used, runs like a dream on myrig.

Scott Kelby's announcement video outlines more about it.

On the mobile question. If you buy CC you get Lightroom Mobile (for use on your tablets etc), if you buy the standalone product you don't get that, just the version for your desktop/Laptop

The other thing that was mentioned in the video was that if you buy the standalone product Adobe will not add features to it until the next release you buy. Whereas the CC version will allow you to take advantage of any new features Adobe add.

What concerns me about that statement is not the addition of features but the support for bug fixes. Are they really saying they won't issue ANY updates?

The new version is very good (have the CC version via work), but if they really aren't going to provide 6.1, 6.2 etc with standalone that really is a douche move.

The mobile stuff I thought meant you won't be able to sync via the adobe cloud to keep library uptodate

goodgrr

Adobe aren't clear but I believe it will be like Photoshop CS6 vs Photoshop CC. At the moment Lightroom CC and Lightroom 6 are identical but will now diverge so Lightroom 6 will only receive bug fixes and new profiles for cameras and lenses while Lightroom CC will receive new features as soon as they are ready instead of being held back for a major new version. Then in 18 months to 2 years (going on previous history) those changes will be sold as Lightroom 7

Looks very much as if Adobe are tying to bully users to take up the monthly licence, rather than buy the stad alone product.

Yea, It makes sense though - client is always up to date and then theres the cloud features like type kits and resources Just their monthly prices are completely unrealistic and overly expensive like they always have been

That depends really. At present it costs £8.57 a month for both Lightroom and Photoshop which is a very reasonable cost for two high quality applications. If you only need Lightroom though buying standalone version works out cheaper of course even if you always upgrade immediately. I wouldn't say £8.57 a month is completely unrealistic and overly expensive though

Agreed, as a photographer I think the £8 odd is super value. I'm currently subscribed to that, how does this deal work in my situation?

This deal is only for non subscribers. When Lightroom CC was announced the upgrade option for existing standalone users was "hidden" to make it look like it didn't exist and indeed the standalone Lightroom 6 was made very difficult to find for purchase. This deal is really just making people aware that the upgrade is even there as Adobe want people to migrate to Lightroom CC rather than upgrade to Lightroom 6.

Doesn't work for me after I change the Full to Upgrade and click on Save Changes it reverts back to Full

You need to choose the version you're upgrading from under "Product I Own" before selecting Save.Changes.
