Still a cracking phone at this price and brand new sealed

3317297.jpg'after buying the phone, you'll need to ring o2 as soon as the phone and sim card arrives, try and use a different number to call and don't activate the sim, alternatively you can stac or pac your new o2 number out to a free payg sim card, that way no charges
Potential credit impact so think thoroughly before diving in, if you are unsure what this entails, then don't do it. It's just a phone at the end of the day, there are millions if other choices.

This deal takes a while to achieve, and there may be a monthly charge, but you will have to keep on at o2 to refund any monies owed, otherwise don't do this deal.

Depends on the person, that's your point of view, it may be worth it for some.
What's the point in building up your credit score over the years and then complaining about credit checks? Surely if you have an excellent rating then all the more reason to go for something like this.

I did it for the mate 20 pro deal, I had to spend hours dealing with O2 and credit search too much drama, after a month despite promises they still deducted one month's charges, I had to spend another hour sorting that out, if I knew it'll be so much hassle I don't think I will order it. I value my time.

I am just saying that people should know what they are getting into.

Yeah, I know it's a ballache, I do, and I've put in the description that this shouldn't be done if you csnt be done with the hassle, you should add this comment to the first comment you left, as simply saying "not worth the hassle" will not help potential buyers

I completely agree with that fact that they can mess you around or not follow process correctly.

It should be accepted that you'll take a hit on 1 months charge.

I had a similar experience with a p30 but guess I did get it 200 quid cheaper so can't complain too much. It did take a reasonable amount of effort to get them to agree not to charge the first month which has yet to hit my account.
Do you order it then cancel the airtime contract?

Yeah it costs time and relies a lot on luck. I've done it a few times and the first two I had to pay a month. The last time I bought two phones and the first guy who answered cancelled the contracts immediately with zero fuss. However I'd consider it worth it as the savings (hundreds of pounds for less than an hour's work) I've made are better than what I could get paid doing something else with my time.

I took out a refresh deal last month. Phoned up paid mobile off. Asked them to transfer the number to pay as you go. No need to cancel anything. Never paid any monthly contract. Just paid for the mobile.

I'm going to guess that is how much they paid Huawei for each device.
Heat for price but I did the mate 20 pro deal last month and O2 are still billing me even though they assured me contract cancelled, so would not accept the 14 day cooling off so had to give 30 days notice which they have not honored.

@MrSwitch above strategy sounds good.. obviously cant guarantee it to be100% hassle free.
Unless anyone can share their bad experience, its worth mentioning in future deals.
Record the phone calls to o2. And let the operator know you are. They tend to be a lot more helpful.

That mean you're paid £100 per hour, which means trying to save is probably just a waste of time for you. You shouldn't bother being on this site!

Usually £75 via live chat if you agree to take out a bigger monthly payment contract, or £100 in store for the same reason.
I'm after a dual sim version. I don't suppose there's an option for one through O2 is there?

Hot deal either way!!

Touch wood, I've never had any problems with cancelling the O2 airtime, but as I'm looking at buying a house soon I am a little more conscious of them doing anything to my credit score!

6 months.

Better battery and camera on the mate. The mate 20 pro is the better phone, with a better processor to boot, that's not to say this is a poor phone by any means, this is the phone that put Huawei on the map.
