Bought one earlier. Good phone for the price
Hot from me.

I've had one since release and was really happy with it until half the screen died (apparently there's a chip that can come loose if the phone gets hot and then is knocked severely: it's pretty rare though). It was replaced under warranty with the 8.1 but I wasn't keen so bought a replacement one of these from Music Magpie using the last ebay code as I genuinely like this phone.

screen issue isn't related to a chip but a cable that get warped by the heatsink of the cpu board. it's a common problem. have a look over at the nokia 8 forums some dudes have had the problem several times, got it fixed several times and the problem comes back again. https://community.phones.nokia.com/categories/nokia-8

I had the exact same thing happen, they replaced it with an upgrade 8 with more memory and a dual sim instead. If I were you, I wouldn't settle for the 8.1 as the 8.1 uses an inferior chipset etc. Nokia Support were fantastic in getting mine replaced.

I would settle for 8.1 as it's more modern, up-to-date design, better optimized/power-efficient, better camera, in short better adapted to 2019, and it will be supported for much longer. Bit bigger though

YMMV, Nokia 8 very good phone still, only front design showing passage of time

You will only notice different chipset if you're into gaming/productivity etc - SD 835 is now, for all intents and purposes, a mid-range processor too

Just to let you know guys, I've had to expire as seller was proved to be shipping used phones masquerading as unused in another thread, it has been duly reported to HUKD
