You would but as it is a switcher you can only have one device connected at once, so if your 1st hd tv was set to the 1st port & the 2nd was set to you the 2nd port to watch the 1st one you set the switcher to number 1, it wouldnt enable you to watch both at the same time,

It is really for connecting say a ps3 & an xbox 360 or your HD set top box to your tv if you only have 1 hdmi port on your tv, or if you have a lot of HDMI enabled equipment but not enough HDMI ports for them all on your tv, it stops the hassle of keeping on unplugging the hdmi cables

Just to say these are auto as well as manual asa friend bought one from dx

Many thanks for this just what i needed, i've been waiting for the price to come down.

Crazy lazy inventions.

I purchased one of these a few weeks back from memorybits BUT it was a different one that came with a remote and what needed to be plugged in via the mains. IS this not needed to be plugged in via mains?

I got one a couple of weeks age and its great

Only got 1 HDMI output on my TV and this works a treat. I have both Sky HD and a xbox 360 attached. It outputs as sky unless i turn on the 360, then it swaps to 360 automatically. To go back to viewing Sky i simply turn off the 360. great invention and no loss of picture quality.

Yo need to have enough HDMI leads as it does not come with any.

Lazy?? Do you mean as opposed to just removing one cable and plugging in another? That might work for some people but not all. I have a lot of AV equipment and to get to the back of it can take quite a while and mess up alot of cables.

It is self powering and does not need a power supply. Not remote control but there is a button on the unit to manually switch between inputs.

This might not even work in 'reverse' (i.e. using the inputs as outputs and the output as an input) for selecting one screen at a time. I wanted to do this with a similar device recently and the seller said it wouldn't work.

If you want the same image to appear on both screens at once you need an HDMI splitter, which is about £35 for a two-way one. You could always combine that with this gadget to be able to select one of several inputs to mirror on both screens. If you want to be able to send different inputs to different screens you'll need an HDMI matrix switch, which starts from about £100 for four inputs and two outputs.

How does this compare with the Joytech 3x HDMI switcher?

I searched a well known auction site already. Didn't find it. Current or completed listing. So unless the model number is wrong.......

Tempted... but it's so easy to switch the HDMI cable on my bedroom TV it would be excessive to spend £12.99 for a device that does it for me!!

It actually works out at just over £10 on dx but i dont think they are in stock
and for the question of working the input/output the opposite way have a look on the question and answer on the dx site

Does anyone know if this would work in reverse to let me switch output to a telly or projector? I'm guessing it won't.

Not true - when your TV's fragile HDMI connector eventually falls apart, you'll really wish you'd bought a switcher !

Won't work - you need a distribution box, like this one for £30 : cpc.farnell.com/_/a…524
