Hi all

I’m in the position of my battery now not holding charge as well as it was.
I thought about replacing it myself via eBay but looking on the Apple website, they have a replacement service at £25 up until the 31st Dec 2018. I think this is normally £79 so seems a fair price For a genuine product.

The phones are
iPhone SE,
iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus,
iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus,
iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus,
iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus,
iPhone X

After this date it will stay a continuous price of £45 I think

There shouldn’t be a cut off for this really, they should keep it at £25. I replaced my 6s plus battery with them in Feb and I’m down to 82% battery health already. Heat for the reminder
Had my iPhone 7+ done yesterday. Booked appointment online two days ahead. Took 90mins for swap. No issues and screen has been put back into casing better than it was when I gave it to them - ie no rough or raised gasket edges, phone is smooth like a pebble all the way around.

I read on the forums that if they scratch or damage your phone you get a "new" refurb phone replacement. Apple products maybe expensive but at least you get good in shop service.

I think after that date is still goes to £45
You'd think the newer ones would be covered under warranty but nice of them to fix issue they caused with older ones for just £25.

Citting it fine as this price has been available for a year

I think it’s only if you’re battery health is at a certain percentage. This isn’t a free for all at £25, just those who need it. They do check (I was at the Genius Bar recently in the US and someone was trying their luck).

How bad does it need to be before they'll do it again
Don’t forget to book an appointment

He meant the date cut off as opposed to a cut off in battery performance. If you take it in, they run a software diagnostics tool to evaluate the battery life. They will they suggest if it is worth replacing or not
Great service via post , Requested repair Sunday night , recieved box on the Tuesday , sent off Mid day on the Wednesday and got the phone back on the Friday all for £25. Saves all the hassle but only good ifyou have a spare phone to use for a couple of days.
will they fix a damaged casing of se?

Don’t forget to book an appointment

last time i booked an appointment i had to wait 3 weeks to see them, however when i had my battery changed i went in without an appointment and got it done same day, albeit with a 4 hour wait time. Not saying everyone will be as lucky as i'm sure its down to the appointments on the day but if you don't live far from an apple store then it may be worth risking. This was at manchester arndale store.
I’d get booking appointments now, I got mine done two weeks ago and the staff said in December they’re gonna have lots of people in as it’s the last month so I’d get booking now if looking to change battery!

Totally wrong, yes they will try and talk you out of it (I’ve had 3 done on seperate occasions) but the £25 is for all iPhone 6 and newer regardless of battery percentage, but limited to 1 per phone
I also had this done earlier this year for around this price as my 6s had bad battery health, it only really improved it for a few months until I got fed up and upgraded to the X which is just a substantially better (that’s what apple want you to do unfortunately)

Had mine done few weeks ago and whilst they checked the state of the current battery which was actually very good, they only used the information to let me know that I wouldn’t see an improvement in the speed of the phone.
Wasn’t sure about getting mine done (6) as I hoped to sell it soon when the right deal comes along for its replacement, but I reckon the phone is worth an extra £25 with a new battery in it and so I don’t think I can really lose!

I booked mine in and it was at 85%. He told me they automatically recommend it at 80% and if it's anywhere over 90% will ask you what issues you had. For me at 85% there wasn't anything he asked.

Mine is a 6 and I've seen incredible change in life, my battery now lasts two days rather than being charged twice each day. Apps don't seem faster but they aren't crashing as much.
He told me it's £45 in the New Year.

I chose a Stormfront store purely because they could do it the same day I looked for an appointment and it took an hour. The Apple store nearby (Exeter) didn't have any appointments left that week, nor did the next nearest Apple store (Plymouth).

I mean 82% is pretty bad from February how bad does it need to get before they'll put a new one in.

Actually the age makes no difference when the Deal has an end date, which is what the MOD's told me on the 25/11 when I re-posted it. But double standards seem to be coming into play.
Booked an appointment last week for couple days ago. Said they couldn't get my SE battery out so they swapped it for a "new" one. Thanks apple.
I've had my SE for over 2 years with no problems, should I bother or not?

Weird it's always been a month before.

Yeah double standards for sure they must love this deal poster. Or maybe they just got it wrong before, or maybe just hasn't been reported yet. Though I'm guessing you did
iPhone 6s Plus
Battery capacity was 80% after just under 3 years of use
Had it replaced for £25, job done, however it took all day (not joking) and had to go back twice. It didn’t seem the communication between staff was that great. I’m just glad it’s done.

However, I’ve been having another problem with phone. Random, unexplained freezing/screen going black and unresponsive. This began after about 2.5yrs.

Apple store suggested getting a screen replacement or a new phone, since it’s “out of warranty”.

Very odd bc the screen has never in any way been damaged, have taken great care of phone. Until recently kept the original plastic on the screen! Lol). In fact, the staff member was surprised at how new my phone looked!

Also, in a phone costing many hundred £££, surely you’d reasonably expect the screen to still be fine (ie not in need of replacement) after careful use for a couple of years?!

I did v politely ask about this in relation to UK consumer law (up to 6yrs), but didn’t really get an answer.

Anyone?

Pointless reporting when they don't stick to their own rules anyway.

Had mine over a year and it’s saying 90%
My iPhone 7 is down to 75% health but I’ve upgraded to an Xs. Wonder if it’s worth doing just to sell?
Just checked the battery health, didn't know I could, anyhow it is 99% so no need to bother but thanks for the heads up

Damn right it is!! Get more money saying its a new genuine battery 🏻
My 6s is currently showing battery health of 82%. Had the phone about 2 years 4 months. I’ve had about 3-4 occurrences during that time of unexpected shutdowns when battery was around 20%.
Battery doesn’t last a full day really as of recent. Depends how you use it I suppose.

Should I arrange to take my handset in?
What’s the criteria to have it done for free?

I do agree, but when they prevent one member from re-posting and then allow another member to re-post, it's only ever going to annoy people.

How come it is £25 ? Didn't you pay additional £7 shipment fee?
Is there a way of checking the health without taking it into a store? thanks
They replace some of the 6S’ when you pay to get a new battery. My sisters got replaced.
I’ve had mine done today (bham). My phone battery was on 86% (2 years old), though it is starting losing charge quicker now. They did a diagnostic test and said that even though the battery is at 86%, the life span of the battery is also based on the amount of full charges which you’ve done. The lifespan is usually based on 5-600 full charges, mine had done almost 700, so they didn’t question replacing it.

Settings - battery - battery health
i took mine in ,told me it would be an 80 minute wait...returned to the stormfront store to be told that they have refused to change the battery because the screen had been replaced by a non apple authorised dealer...so a complete waste of a morning driving to and fro
