I wasnt a fan of this - a bit of pain and not very secure (in my opinion!) but a good price though!

Will this keep the wife out ?

Depends on how short your wife is!

My advice... Which i did when looking at these a week or 2 ago..

Go for the Lindam metal gates from asda, £20 each... or 2 for £30... far better quality,

just my 2 pence worth....

Edit..

The ones I got are even better value now.. (If you was only buying 1, same price for the 2)

yeah and you might still be able to get the free extension for them to i got 4 extensions for them doing 4 seperate orders i think it was from the lindum site and all you paid was £3 postage wich is alot cheaper then buying the extensions

The flexi gate is more useful for us at the bottom of the stairs than the metal ones, as the metal one tends to push out/weaken the stair post.

I too had this problem and invested in a woodon gate from Ikea. I had to screw it in but very secure and I can open it with ease. Sadly I have to agree with others about the use of this gate as I also bought this item but had to take it back. I would say it is only really useful for taking to the grandparents as a temporary gate.:?
