This may be of interest for those wanting a cheaper home recording interface to start with. Yep, it's a pretty old model, although drivers have been updated within the last year to support W11 and also Mac OS Big Sur. Drivers can be found here, although you need to use the filter to get to them (It doesn't offer me a direct link, sadly)

POD studio UX2 combines the sound of POD Farm plug-in with a rock-solid and USB interface. Essential to the success of countless platinum-selling albums, these immortal Line 6 guitar, bass and effects tones are available for recording guitarists.

In 1998, Line 6 released Amp Farm amp modeling plug-in and forever changed the way guitarists record. 10 years and dozens of groundbreaking creations later, line 6 continues the recording revolution with POD farm.

The latest drivers for this are actually from 2019. Although they support Windows 11, they are not HVCI compatible so you will need to disable the Core Isolation/ Memory Integrity security feature in W11 in order to install them. W10 doesn't enable this security feature by default so the installation is straightforward. (edited)

I used a line 6 guitarport and pod farm for years and nearly bought one of these when the guitarport gave up last year. Went with the ik multimedia axe I/0 and amplitube 5 instead as it looked like line 6 haven't been doing any software development

Download Tonebridge to your phone/tablet/laptop. It’s out of this world. And free!!

I have an older version of this, the UX1. It's great, but is it worth upgrading to the UX2?

I wouldn't bother. These interfaces are around 15 years old now. Sure, they were updated slightly (the front panels changed from red to black and the names changed to include the word Pod) but they're more or less the same Toneport UX1 and UX2 from around 2008 or whenever they were originally released. There are much better units to be had in 2023. (edited)

Found out the hard way that this doesnt work on my air guitar.

Have you tried replacing the air cable? Sometimes the O can split from the 2, so only half the signal gets through.

I had a similar problem with my air dryer and it would only blow split ends around. (edited)

So how many inputs can I use at one time i.e. for recording band rehearsals ?

2, and only 1 of those can be an "instrument" input.
    Not great tbh.

    Is this a reasonable alternative?

I'm just picking up guitar again after many years of being bad and not really sure what I'd be looking for so don't want to spend much. I thought I'd maybe be able to use software for effects.

Or would I be better with a multi effects pedal like NUX MG-300?

I picked up an older model of this on ebay for £30 - it's ace, loads of sounds/effects/tones, but having just had a look for the older models on ebay I would say I got lucky so this could be a decent deal.

Also can be just a standard audio/midi card. Good deal with good options.

Timely deal for me, as I've been on the look out for a budget audio interface. This looks much nicer than its competitors, and I've voted hot, but I think this might be a better bet...

I have the UMC204HD, primarily because I wanted one underneath a monitor riser so I needed all the controls on the front.

I haven't properly run it through it's paces, just use it for mic input for video calls and I run my guitar through it for Rocksmith. I've not had any issues so far though and am enjoying it.

I spent months watching the price on it and it never shifted from £88 so the current price of £80 is pretty good too.
